Would Khan be anywhere near as famous as he is for coming 2nd if he had not been our only boxer in Athens. We had 8 fighters and lots of medal hopes.Had Team GB not been so successfull and had De Gale been the only boxer there and won his gold he would have recieved far greater coverage and accolades!Khan was in the right place at the right time and Warren knew it!

What's the point in giving a link to Kindelan? We know how good he was, Khan lost to him. If you're going to compare, compare the fighters they beat and in the end, irrespective of quality, gold is always better than silver. :yep

Khan looked better and lost to a better fighter that DeGale beat.

But Gold is always better than Silver.

I was more impressed with Audleys Gold, and the way Kahn achieved his Silver. Still gold is gold I guess.

    that groves win was controversial.

degale had the international form and that's why he was picked.

    always thought he'd maybe medal.

didn't think he'd win gold or silver though unless he boxed to his potential.

comparing him with amir. i think it's about equal given that khan was only 17 and the fact khan boxed a bit better performance wise thru out the tournament.

khan was unlucky in that he came up against an amateur great in kindelan.

How could you possibly know that? Anyway, glad to see you're still posting garbage. If you thought a grown up avatar would make people take you more seriously though, think again. At least you're making an effort though.....

    gold is better end of...

however khan was in a much stronger division.....actually the stongest and most competitive division of the competition.

i put degale gold level with audleys. Actually audley performed better thru the fights to get his medal but both were in relatively weaker divisions. However, you can only beat (or not) whats in front of you, and then the real proof in the pudding is the pro career that follows.

Gold is not better if the division is weak. Beating shitty boxers in a weak division is not as good as beat class boxers and getting even a silver.

Besides gold medals do not always mean much especially when it comes to doing well in the pro ranks. RJJ got a silver and Audley got a gold compare their achievements.
