Khan's silver or Degale's gold, which was better?

I wouldn't say any of the boxers Degale fought were "shitty".
I think your missing the point here about what winning a gold medal in the Olympics is all about. It's the pinnacle of "amateur" boxing" and is a very select club. The achievement of winning a gold medal doesn't go up and down depending on your pro career, if you have one.

That's not the point. You've obviously included any 'pro stuff' because your argument is so ****. It's not the winner's fault the competition is weaker. Carl Lewis's competiton was weak for the 100 metres in 84, it's still better than having Richard Thompson's silver from last week and that's that.

Yes, even superstars like Ali and Leonard said the Olympic gold was their proudest moment.

Khan. He was a young guy who no one really rated. He went out there alone and he lost to one of the best P4P Amateurs ever. Kindelan was a man and an unbelievable fighter.

khans is better, simple as. theres no debate. also khan had to do it on his own, degale had team support.

degales is more impressive,he took the gold and beat the best in the division.khan may have only been 17 but he still came away with only a silver.if khan had drawn kindelan early on he would have got nothing, degale would still have won gold however the draw panned out.

Ok, no disputing Khans great achievement of winning a silver at 17 and having to fight a great fighter in Kindelan but I don't think people are giving Degale the credit he deserves for winning only our 3rd "gold" medal in the last 40 years.

Probably because he comes across as a gobshite.

I thought Khan could talk **** but degale is an arrogant sod who will get found out in the pro ranks.

bloody hell the hating has started already. have you ever noticed that arrogant athletes are generally the most succesful. i mean look at the best boxers in recent year, mayweather, jones jnr, toney, whitacker, hopkins, there all very very arrogant (what i would actually describe as confidence)

The haters of Khan were boring, the ones of DeGale are gonna be even worse.

PBF, RJJ could do the business inside the ring and as such could carry the arrogance. This guy has done sweet FA and acts cocky, I doubt he will do much in the pro ranks.

I think you need to reword that to make it more appropriate for comparison to Degales achievement.

Whats more impressive, Watford coming 2nd in the premiership or ManU winning the 1st division ?

the question wasnt 'is gold better than silver' the question was about the individual achievement of both boxers, one who won gold the other silver. given that that was the question, you cant just answer it with 'gold is better than silver' as people have done.

and my analogy was a very simple way to show not taking competition into account to rank a sporting achievement is stupid, no matter what the level is.
