with khans obvious defensive faults do you think he should change trainers?? and if so who would you have him move to, stay in the UK or move to america, personally i'd have him go to team calzaghe they seem to be producing champions at a rate oh knots and i think enzo could sort his defense right out, what you reckon????
Oh Jeez, go to Calzaghe and people thought the hype train was in overdrive at the moment. We already know what its like when the Calzaghe camp join forces with Warren. I say he goes to the States, gets out of the limelight and gets his head down and put in some real work. Maybe then he has a hope of reaching the heights everyone thinks he will attain. If he stays in UK, its only a matter of time before the rails come off.
Khans game has continously been improving since he has turned pro. Until his improvement stops, people should shut up. He is not all bouncey on his toes, he has reduced his herky jerky head pulling, he places his shots better, keeps his left hand up much more and he is improving in other areas. He still needs to work on his balance, pulling back when at the right range, keeping his hands up more, not throwing amateur combos etc
spot on. like ive said all along its way to early. I mean PBF didnt fight anyone decent until his 20th Pro fight. so thats a few more fights for Khan untill we really should start to tell. I mean he might be quick, and learn defense and have no chin and still be a Champ. just ask Zab Judah he has made a good living out of it.
he's probably do well if he trained in america. i think the lime light shines to bright on him in the UK, and i cant begin to fathom the amount of distractions over there for a 20 year old with fame and money. women, the high life etc.... he'd probably be able to put in real work in america without all the distractions, not to mention a step up in the quality of sparring available.
barry maguigan has always encouraged him to go to Freddie roaches gym, but he appears to be too attached to oliver Harrison
Warren will have him fight re-animated stiffs for the next 5 years anyway. Just look at Calzaghe, 10 years with the WBO title, fighting nobodies. Macrinelli will go down the same path. Hatton would of probably been fighting WBU mandatories if he had stayed. Kahn i sgood but has no pwer and a dodgy chin. He will get the WBO or WBU but he will be 30 by the time Frank risks putting him up for a real title. Arthur is 29 but only now has got this interim WBO belt, unfortunatley he looks awful nowadays and will get slaughtered by any of th enames he has been talking about, he wont fight them.
Agreed. Apart from Billy Graham, Enzo C, and Brendan Ingle, British trainers are ****. They're nothing more than towel wavers and conditioners
He does need to go to America. I think Moore and M'Baye box with him and that isn't what he needs. He needs an array of different styles. He needs to learn in sparring before he goes into the ring. In America he'll be facing different styles by the **** load. Random fighters coming into the gym, willing to spar anybody.
ive said this from day one..... why they gave a good prospect to a kickboxer...i do not know Khan needs to be training in the us with a top us trainer, fighting international opponents (from the americas) and far more often. Ther is no reason for a 20 year old kid not to be busy. He doesnt have to live over there (i know that would be hard for someone so young) but a few months at a time should be ok.
He could do worse then join Bob Shannon at Fighting Fit Gym, which is going along quite nicely at the mo, den ther is even Bryan Hughes at Collyhurst and Moston, n wot wot about Maurice Core at Champs camp Moss Side? Got to say a strange choice wen Khan chose Oliver harrison wen turning Pro.
You can't train a chin my friends and this is one of the worst examples of the known lot.:yep The worst part is that some won't get it until he's officially starched flat, it's on it's way though, don't worry.:yep
From the very begining I was dismayed at Khan's choice of trainer. The biggest mistake that britains most talented young amatuers are making when they turn pro, is their choice of trainer. While khan has made a number of improvements he is not where he should be at this moment in time. I would love to see him counter punch more and use his height and reach advantages instead of constantly being the fighter to lead. In terms of talent he is very gifted but in terms of actually skill he is just another fighter. For me the whole situation is very frustrating as I am a fan and believe he can become a champion but I can see him falling short of his true potential. He doesn't neccesarily need to go to the states to be trained as Graham, Ingle and Calzaghe are all good trainers but I personally think he is wasting his time and talent with Oliver Harrison.
I think he needs to have a chat with Manny Steward. Go to his gym and immerse himself in elite sparing. Not now though, Manny would not give him attention or take him to America. Khan can learn from the domestic scene.
