Khan's "vast improvement" under Roach is a bit of a myth

I can't speak for everyone else....Unlike the majority of posters here who think know the inner-thoughts of everyone else. But please find me one post where I did not or refused to give Khan Credit for this win over Maidana. He gets the utmost credit for this win. All I am saying is that there was NOTHING ALL THAT IMPRESSIVE about his performance. Can you explain to me why a so-called skilled fighter would move around the ring during several rounds in the fight and then to a complete stop, cover-up in a shell and allow a fighter to just bang away landing scoring blows and stealing rounds...Who in the **** does that? Especially against a fighter that was easy as hell to hit!!! The only reason why Khan was doing that IMO...he was DEAD TIRED!!!

Good Win....Good Fight...But Not a Impressive Showing from someone who is supposed to be an EXTREMELY SKILLED BOXER WITH THE BEST TRAINER IN THE WORLD. He has a ton of FLAWS...I guess FLAWS are contagious at the Wild-Card Gym.

i wasnt referring to you! i was generalising what haters on esb say about khan, just how you generalised what khan nuthuggers say on here aswel.

In my eyes, both POV are as ridiculous as each other.

I agree with most of what you said. I think in the first half of the fight he was fighting the right way. Sticking and moving and catching maidana with combinations. but in the second half of the fight your right, he looked amateurish at times. Stopped going to the body and just tried potshotting while against the ropes allowing maidana to rough him up. That was foolish.

But i reckon thats coz khan deliberately got away from the game plan, as opposed to technical deficiencies. I think he assumed maidana was tired and had weathered the storm and thought that maidana couldnt carry his power to the later rounds, so he wanted to trade and take his shots to be all ''macho'' and prove a point. To me thats a severe mental error and his mentality needs to change. But then remember he is just 24.

You reckon its coz he got tired? Thats an interesting argument. to be honest i hadnt thought of it that way. i guess a case could be made for that. The reason my mind didnt go there is coz in round 10 when he got hit flush and was wobbled, had he been tired i think he would have gone down.

Also i think your selling maidana short here. He isnt the most technically gifted fighter, but he is very very good at what he does. He was cutting off the ring very well. He is an outstanding pressure fighter. In the 140 pound division i dont think there is anyone who can outbox maidana for 12 rounds and get a shut out against him. hes too good for that.

  5. Dude I think his gameplan was to stay OUTSIDE which is why you saw very little infighting. Him and Roach knew damn well fighting on the inside with Maidana wasn't gonna get him anywhere and frankly, the gameplan to run Marcos around the ring for 12 rounds worked well on the score cards. I was a Khan hater, especially after the Prescott fight... but seeing him struggle and still gut out the victory against Maidana, you can't help but acknowledge his improvement under Roach. Also, quit shitting on Maidana, that fool is an absolute mother****in' warrior who came to win and he beats some of the other top 140 pounders.

TwitterChamp talks bollocks, said he would give credit if Khan took on Maidana, not only did he take him on, he took his best punches and was still standing.

You were so wrong about Khan its just sad to see that you have so little self respect you would come back on here and post on topics regarding him.

When you have no defense, you have no choice but to exchange blows

You have defense if you make your opponent miss over 70 percent of his shots.

You guys just harp on the 20+ percent that did hit. And most of them, Khan let Maidana throw at him a la Pacquiao (which Roach hates). Except the 10th round beatdown.
