He was pretty slow- and methodical to me and not all that entertaining even when he was young and raw up until he decided to close the show. He really cashed in on his strength and power to make his money and he bet on the right horse. I heard a lot about Galaxy before I saw him and to me he didn’t live up to his hype honestly. What do you think of him and where do you have him ranked at his weight? Despite all this his mythical status persists and he is one of my favourite fighters based on how imposing and dominant he was. Like the final boss of a video game or something.
I dont know how good was his division at that time. Has he faced all best fighters back then? I gonna search in classic some threads about him. What I seen Galaxy was even more brute than GGG or Hagler, looked like he absolutely didnt give a **** about getting hit. I guess its because his chin was chromium vanadium steel and guys dont usually punch as hard as in a higher weight classes anyway. Maybe he was "the biggest fish in a small pond", but I like him anyway... What was his toughest fight?
His division was at its zenith just about and nothing happened. He feasted on some pretty overmatched guys. He has a few live dog moments but really with Khaosai fights you are watching a natural feather beat up on so-so flys in a spectacular fashion he is a fun one to think of in the great what ifs from his own era- a bout with Moon would have been brutal, one with Jiro Wantabe almost happened ect. All in all I do really like him- and his style the whole mythos about him is great and he truly was a force. I will get back to you on my recommendation's on a Khaosai fight but I recommend watching his brother who is everything Khaosai was but against better comp.
I like his style. Merciless and terrifying. He just barrelled in, forced his opponents back and worked their body. As they weakened, he got stronger and eventually, knocked them out with a massive cross. One of the most horrifying physical monsters ever IMO, just not an unbeatable one. I'd have favoured Gerry Penalosa to take his best and pick him apart. Roman might be able to trouble beat him, given Kong's success but I'd take Galaxy - based on the same Kong's success vs Roman, using an entirely different style. Jiro Watanabe could well beat Galaxy, using superior footwork and combinations to baffle the Thai and work him over. @From.Russia I'd recommend the Kim fight. Kim beat Sot Chitalada twice IMO, and it's a very good back-and-forth where Galaxy was momentarily rocked. Another top fight is Galaxy-Contreras. He was more than momentarily hurt, but Contreras was a collosal puncher. He stopped a prime Wilfredo Vazquez in one round, and also stopped Luisito Espinoza. Galaxy out-monstered him in a war. A good fight to see Galaxy's limitations, is his fight with Kong Payakaroon (Samart's brother). Kong worked a good jab and seemed to trouble Galaxy with purposeful movement.
Good catch. He is extremely limited, doesnt mix offence and defence, he is either getting battered or dishing out. Also the way he extends sometimes his arms trying to control opponent reminds me of Foreman.
I am still wondering that nobody decisioned him, except his early loss, I guess if you put all your points in chin and power you can do wonders, haha. What do you think about fantasy match up against modern fighters like Inoue ( 2017 version ) or Estrada? In a fantasy match up who would be a big favorit against Galaxy for you?
The arm work he does is from his Muay Thai Background he gets clipped a lot doing it against Castro actually.
More than almost any fighter I've seen, Galaxy had great power with both hands and was as devastating to the body as he was to the head. He was limited defensively, but, obviously, he more than made up for it with his offense.
