This kid's growing on me. :deal:

Earlier today he defeated Brayam Alejandro Rico Pabón via TKO3, and stole the show on Матч! in the co-main event - although truthfully speaking the bar was set very low. Every other match, including Mikhail Aloyan's swansong, was dreadful. :ohno

This wasn't his first time impressing on that network, however, and he is bound to step into the limelight and begin headlining - and perhaps making a play for world titles - soon. Last time out he dealt precisely the same result to grizzled vet Petr Vladimirovich "Tsar" Petrov. Everybody figured Agrba would get past a 38 year old Petrov, but not many anticipated the monodirectional savagery that it became.

They are bringing him along nicely in terms of active schedule - with Agrba competing thrice in the first year of the global pandemic and now thrice more in eleven months since - and steady gradation in opponent quality, for the most part (Rico being somewhat of a backslide from Petrov, but not an outright plummet). At just 26 years old and with a 305–16 amateur run behind him, the southpaw Russian-based ethnic Abkhazian (that's an educated guess on my part, because his birth year was 3 years after the civil war and small-scale genocide in his native city of Gagra ousted pretty much all the Georgians) is already successfully adapting his style and wealth of experience into the pro game, with potentially several years of prime ahead of him.

Given the somewhat touchy nature of the political climate in his childhood home until he was 5, with the rest of the world split on whether to recognize Abkazhia's independence or autonomous republic status within Georgia's borders, I'd hesitate to put him on a list of "boxers from Georgia" - but if we did, he would easily be the best h2h fighter hailing from the area since...idek man, I'm drawing a blank on world class talents other than Avtandil Khurtsidze. Agrba is patently better IMO than Koba Gogoladze or Iago Kiladze. If we narrow it down to strictly Abkhazians, he may well be their reigning GOAT. It'd be down to either him or contemporary Enver Aydoğan Takhirovich Bzagoa, who's currently 2-0 and basing himself in Turkey, but who didn't fare nearly as well in the amateurs.

I mentioned in December that "his nickname is derived from both his primary hobby outside the ring being chess, and the fact that early in his career he drew comparisons in Russian media to retired WBO middleweight titlist Dmitry Yurievich Pirog - which is supremely high praise, and quite the big pair of shoes to fill" - but he now on his own page's social media stories appears to have branded himself "The Untouchable". If he continues with that, I guess that'll be his official moniker going forward. Missed opportunity, though, if you ask me - "Aggro Bot" would be perfect. :sisi1

Btw thanks - I'm guessing @CST80? - for the quick deletion on the prematurely ejaculated version of this earlier. Goddamn new laptop's sensitive keyboard, guess my fingers were flying too fast and it thought I punched in some kind of sequence that is equivalent to clicking "submit post'. :nusenuse:

There was no point scrambling to fill everything in on a quick edit; I only had one sentence written out.

@IntentionalButt hes good but you should be doing a thread on this guy too - Dzmitry Asanau.
He was an elite amateur from Belarus who boasts wins over Andy Cruz, Lazaro Alvarez, Murodjon Akhmadaliev x2, Shakhobidin Zoirov, Albert Batyrgaziev, Sofiane Oumiha, Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov. He made his pro debut very under the radar at the weekend.

    Stanionis vs. Agrba would hump.

Identical records, 15-0 (9), both ultra-skillful boxer-punchers with not dissimilar styles.

I just saw a post about him on Twitter then came on here and saw this and thought it was a weird coincidence but turns out he just had a fight. This guy will definitely become a champion at 140, I’ve been very impressed every single time I’ve seen him fight and he gets matched tough. Will have to check out the fight that just happened hopefully it gets uploaded to youtube
