Co-headlining an IBA Champions' Night (which is professional boxing, to clear up any confusion) tomorrow, January 17th, in Yerevan. Ten rounds scheduled at welterweight. No hardware on the line and neither is currently ranked top fifteen in the world by any major org - but a victory for either here could make some inroads there. Both are on decent runs of form with the Russian puncher going 10-0 (8) since his lone career loss to Armenian southpaw Aram Armenovich Amirkhanyan in 2018, and the Venezuelan coming off a capture of his nation's vacant super welterweight title last August versus fellow unbeaten countryman Jeremy Álvarez. The main event is former amateur standout Pavel Antonovich "MEX Style" Sosulin vs. Filipino banger Caraloo Gella "Brown Sugar" Bacaro in the former's first defense of the WBA Asia middleweight championship - but I'm honestly more intrigued by this one. It's a huge leap up in class for Sánchez, who mostly feasted on dismal domestic opposition prior to Álvarez - but likewise this is the probably the first live body Baysangurov (the overall weakest member of his dynasty, IMO) will have faced since Triple A defeated him.
