This seems like a great move for Quillin.

    Thoughts?

Hes the next great champion. He has all the skills and tools of a Mosley or Mayweather. I think he's so good now that no matter who he trains with hes going to be a champion, but training with Roach may give him the edge he needs.

I think Roach is a better trainer than Mayweather. I think also Roach better fits Kid Chocolates style.

Have you seen him fight? Hes more talented than Cotto, or anyone really in the division.

See for yourself. How much more talent does he need? The only area he can improve is his defense. I'd like to see him win a title and challenge Cintron or Paul Williams. I think he could definitely beat Cintron and I think he would give Paul Williams a challenge.

I think Kid Chocolate has decent enough skills, but more importantly I think he has a lot of upside in terms of potential.

Roach has as good a chance as any trainer to help him maximize his true potential.

Not sure if that means Quillin will succeed at the very top level, but this surely gives him a better chance.

He is a few fights away from being a championship fighter. I think he can win a title at 160 if he stays away from Martinez. He has the skills to beat Pavlik and Cintron, he can beat Sturm, and against Williams its a toss up.

Most importantly nobody stands in his way of becoming #1 contender.

Now if he fights at super middle weight it's a different story completely. I think he should try to win a title at 160 first if he can still make that weight.

Hooking up with Roach can never be looked on as a bad move, but he does seem to be spreading himself thinner and thinner all the time. As a new protege trying to develop into a real force, I'd be nervous about availability of quality face time.
