By Richard Poxton. Quillin was prepared to come to the uk as well. Richard Schaefer calls Poxton some unpleasant names. Source is a interview on Ellie sechbacks channel with Richard.
Strange... Murray would easily beat Quillin. Only reason I can think for them turning down the fight is that they hope to get a shot against Barker instead.
Quillin is bad for the health of fighters who know they aren't good enough to dominate but with some careful planning could win a title, look good enough to keep the gravy train going. Barker, Macklin, Murray etc will ensure they market themselves as one of the best in the division when the truth is they will never be good enough to really make a run for supremacy. It's the tough call between credibility and business. Barker has now intelligently called out Sturm. He completely slaughtered his worth but at the same time hyped a fight. Well played Darren. Keep the gravy train going with a 'homecoming' instead of losing your belt to Quillin, Sergio or GG. Sadly the sport of boxing and the the greed of business has yet to come to an agreement on how to move forward.
Barker has to fight strum as he is mandatory. Sergio won't want such a tough fight after a long lay-off and gg is signed to fight someone else. Not really much darren can do. Strum should be a good fight
, 90%+ of Americans have NO clue who he is, and the small minority of boxing fans are generally mild on him at best. His manager/promoter have failed to garner much hype combined with his obvious mediocrity. Murray is a fool if he dismissed a UK fight with him. Would've surely taken that WBO belt and gained good leverage in a unification fight next with Barker which would've been pretty big in the UK... :huh
there's people on the main having him beating GGG and cleaning out MW as for your 90% don't know who he is, when I'm on a boxing forum I'm talking about boxing fans not what my next door neighbour who's never saw a fight thinks.
Some of the stuff I read on the main is absolutely ******ed,Ive spoke to people on there in the past who hold Quillin in high regard,He's the weakest champion in the division imo.Murray and Barker both beat him,Im not saying it would be an easy fight but definately winnable for both guys especially Murray who I think is the best middleweight in Britain at the moment despite Darren Barkers win last weekend.
He knocked a limited N'Jikam down 6 times and still dropped 5 rounds on the scorecards, he can be easily outboxed, Murray would take his best and still be in there no problem.
Im not saying I don't thinkMurray could beat him, especially if the fight was over here, but I don't think its wise to underestimate Quillin.History is littered with examples of this kind of talk.Easiest champion in the division, very beatable, etc. This before the fight is made. Then when it is it becomes a 50 50 fight, sometimes with an unfavourable outcome for the British boxer.Martin did brilliantly against Martinez, and IMO should have won.Dare I say it though,I always thought he was slightly overrated.Quillin could be the opposite, and a different fight.Certainly not an easy one.
Yes,but Id be willing to bet that the feeling is not reciprocated. Also that nobody else wants him either.
