This isn't intended to detract from Valero, but maybe Diamond was partly to blame for DeMarco's apparent strategy borne of expectation that he could assert control after weathering the storm in a slow start against yet another heavy handed guy (and presumed to have been lacking in the boxing skill to adapt to DeMarco coming on), thinking "Hey, it worked last time..."? :think
So you suggesting we should give Diamond a half win on his resume for assisting Valero in beating Demarco? One thing you did bring up was heavy hands. Having watched Demarco/Valero, Anybody having any qualms about potentially knocking down Valero's supposed super power? I always thought Valero had light tower power but in his last two fights, I'm sort of swaying away from that. Very powerful but not the one hitter quitter I thought he was.
I came late to this party so I don't have much more to add to the excellent discourse that's already gone down. Diamond is a textbook example of a Jekyll and Hyde fighter- he had titlist potential that went unrealized because he couldn't take the next step he was capable of and was about as consistent as a coin toss. I have to give him this, though: win or lose, he was the kind of fan-friendly fighter that the sport can never have enough of.
