Winstrol, which is what he was caught with, is used for retaining muscle, even when cutting weight. It's used in loads of sports for general all round athleticism, including strength work. Increased bone density and lean muscle mass will assist with punching power as well as the ability to take a punch. It's wrong to think of drugs such as this as being of use only to gain size (as in bodybuilding) and therefore of no use to boxers. It's also wrong to think boxers would only use drugs for recovery.
I've got to say I've had many of the IK's fighters stay in my home whilst up here working and kid Galahad was one if not the most professional people that came up, he took all the right drinks measured everything he eat, ran and trained hard daily and always spoke about boxing. I can't believe under any circumstances would he take anything enhance performance or aid in mKing wait no chance
I don't know anything about KG's situation other than what I've read, but let's face it if he or anyone else was using they wouldn't tell you would they..
Just read it was Stanozolol, an Anabolic Steriod wich became widely known to the public after Ben Johnson was caught on it back in '88 in what is now called "the dirtiest race in history" formerly known as "the fastest race in history". Ben Johnson also used the spiked drink excuse at first.
When it comes to not just pro sport but competitive sport generally you have to start from a position of scepticism regarding drug use. Sportsmen and women want power, fame, glory, and money, and they'll do whatever it takes, why wouldn't they? Once you make the decision to be a pro athlete you sell your soul to the business of sport, and like all business it's tough and dirty. The public, however, want fairy tales. It's the old story of the against all odds hero who with nothing going for him but true grit, talent and dedication overcomes adversity to become world champ. Like all fairy tales it's a lovely story but the reality of life is a bit more sinister. Be a fan by all means but wise up to the fact that playing fields ain't ever level. It's called life.
Thanks for the info. I dont know much about ped's. Do u think it would help with punch power? Or just brute strength? Goos ban amd second offence should be life
:good If you're able to train harder for longer, as well as get stronger, that can only assist your development of punch power.. To be honest drugs help with any athletic endeavour. Even shooting has a problem with beta blockers for control of nerves lol.
if you take Usain Bolt out of equation the next 17 fastest 100 metre times have been run by Athletes who have later been caught doping...Usain Bolt now works with the best chemist in the sporting world...you can make of that what you will... i have had experience with various PEDs over a number of years and i am in no way an elite sportsman so ANYBODY thinking sport is clean is living in cloud fluffy world and id love to join you there!! i can also confirm PEDs will defo make a boxer punch harder, train longer and recover quicker ... Ant-man is one of the minority who does not have his head in the sand
What's your rationale TDF if when you say you've had experience you mean you've dabbled? Apologies in advance if that's not the case or if I'm prying too much.. Personally I've no interest/reason for having a nibble but wouldn't judge anyone who does. :thumbsup
