Martinez is still fighting? Galahad by Decision only because kiko is a very durable fighter in my eyes.

Yeah seems like he's been around for ever. Never tire watching his Bernard Dunne KO... 14 years ago that was.

Galahad will stop him though, maybe retiring on his stool....

Not impressed by this fight, but as it's only 3 months since Galahad got his belt, I give him a benefit of the doubt.

Very shopworn, though, and Barry is a sharp puncher. Like DoubleJab666, I think Kid can get this job done inside the distance.

Amazing these old threads, no one giving Martinez a chance, and yet Kid was ironed out.

I expected him to win and figured he'd break Martinez up over the course of a bout, with Kiko having been through the wars and operating above his more natural super bantamweight. I'd have bet on that outcome, too, if the sportsbooks had been giving better odds (3/10 when I looked).

Unlike some, I haven't scurried under a rock because a fight didn't meet my expectations (which were pretty modestly stated).

I should add, carrying shopwear and being past your prime isn't tantamount to being shot. I don't throw that term around loosely.

Kiko isn't where, say, Mick Katsidis was when he signed to fight Tommy Coyle, for example. He just wasn't a very appealing candidate for a featherweight title bout, as far as fan interest goes, due to being past his pomp and being on the small side of the weight. He defied that general lack of enthusiasm from fans and deserves the praise he's getting.

That's boxing -- we all get a prediction completely wrong every once in a while!

I was surely glad to get this one wrong, however.

I wonder how many people went with Martinez KO in the prediction league?

Anyone who did needs to take a bow. :number_one:
