One of my favorite fighters..and a great champion with not much of a punch, but he was ring savvy as hell, had no problems going 15 rounds and had a world class chin...on down twicw in his career, and never stopped!!
One of my favourites, too. I really don't think any welterweight coming forward could beat him; Gavilan was too tough and endurable himself, with speed and guile to match. It would have to be some kind of stylist who defeats Gavilan, and there are only about three welterweights who I'd predict to have the upper hand over him.
I'll wriggle out of that one by saying that Walker wasn't at his absolute best at WW, perhaps...but I admit I hadn't thought of him. It would be interesting viewing to say the least.
