When was Gavilan a pressure fighter? And it seems to me Floyd has more trouble with pressure fighters than any other kind.

    In actuality:

-Roy had the better footspeed, and easily.
-Their ring smarts were about even, as has been said, Roy definitely impressed me more with the things he did.
-Your 3rd point is bull****, and your case is running thinner and thinner, making it pretty much paper thin considering how thin it was to start.
-He may be more controlled to you because he is more orthodox and takes no risks, but that's why he's more boring and less of a finisher. Roy beat people up and finished them off, Floyd doesn't.
-He's not much more accurate, he throws less punches, Roy's counted for more.

You're wrong. You've been proven wrong enough, stop arguing.

floyd has faced four current and former ring champs in his last four fights I did not see roy fighting the claiber of floyd's opposition at the age of 30.

who did roy adapt against. I mean roy was and is an ATG who did not have any other ATG to fight against as his career progressed.

as for who was a better fighter floyd was the more complete specimen at all levels of the game. 5 titles in 5 weight classes while remaining undefeated was never accomplished by roy and that's why floyd will go down ranked as a higher ATG.

floyd is a living legend by the age of 30 not hagler, hearns, duran or leonard could say they accomplished what floyd did:deal

oh and floyd by ko over gavilan. gavilan had a tendency to paw with his jab and we all know how floyd loves guys who paw with their jab.

Let me ask you this: who beat the better opposition? Mayweather or Leonard?

Mayweather: De La Hoya, Castillo (2), Corrales, Hatton, Hernandez

Leonard: Duran (2), Hagler, Hearns, Benitez

You just fell into the stupid trap. Gavilan was never KO'd, not even by Sugar Ray Robinson. Robinson said he landed the best shot of his career against Gavilan and he couldnt put him down. 147lbs was Robinson's best weight, and he was a far more powerful welter than Floyd.

Just how do you propose that Floyd KO's him?

By the way, I started this thread in the classic forum, and there have been some good replies- check out stonehands' post. He is incredibly knowledgable about boxing as a whole.

Amsterdam and Patsys- you voted for Floyd by KO. Are you serious?

If so, you know less of the sport than I thought.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol:

The only thing Mayweather has done was win titles in more weight classes. Outside of that, Jones has accomplished more. Jones however, did climb more weight classes.

how many fighters in the modern era have won 5 wbc titles in 5 weight classes while remaining undefeated.

as a matter of fact how many fighters have won 5 wba titles in 5 weight classes by the age of 30:lol: there has never been a fighter in our modern era of boxing (1970-present) who has won the same organization belt in five weight classes. roy didn't do it, tha's for damn sure:hi:

roy has defeated 16 former and current world champions in his career.
and had over 22 title defenses

    Jorge Castro (WBA middleweight champion)
    Jorge Vaca (WBC welterweight champion)
    Bernanrd Hopkins (IBF Middleweight Champion)
Thulani Malinga (WBC Super Middleweight Champion)
James Toney (IBF Super Middleweight Champion)
Vinnie Pazienza (WBA Light Middleweight Champion)
Eric Lucas (WBC Super Middleweight Champion)
    Mike Mccallum (WBC Lightheavyweight Champion)
    Virgil Hill (WBA Lightheavyweight Champion)
Lou De Valle (WBA Lightheavyweight Champion)
    Otis Grant (WBO Middleweight Champion)
    Reggie Johnson (IBF Lightheavyweight Champion)
    Julio Gonzalez (WBO Lightheavyweight Champion)
Clinton Woods (IBF Lightheavy weight Champion)
    John Ruiz (WBA Heavyweight Champion)
    Antonio Tarver (WBC Lightheavyweight Champion)

defeated 13 former champions, with 12 title defenses.

Genaro Hernandez (WBC Super Featherweight Champion)
    Gregario Vargas (WBC Featherweight Champion)
Diego Corrales (IBF Super Featherweight Champion)
Carlos Hernandez (IBF Super Featherweight Champion)
Jesus Chavez (WBC Super Featherweight Champion)
Jose Luis Castillo (WBC Lightweight Champion)
De Marcus Corley (WBO Light Weltwerweight Champion)
Arturo Gatti (WBC Light Welterweight Champion)
Sharmba Mitchell (WBA Light Welterweight Champion)
    Zab Judah (WBC/WBA/IBF Welterweight Champion)
    Carlos Baldomir (WBC Welterweight Champion)
Oscar De La Hoya (WBC Light Middleweight Champion)
Ricky Hatton (IBF Light Welterweight Champion)

roy has definitely accomplsihed more only because he is like 8 years older then floyd and his division was weak (lightheavyweight).

floyd has campaigned and won his titles against ring champions roy hasn't.

I am not hating on roy it's just that he didin't have the comp at the higher weight classes like floyd had at the lower weight classes. head-to-head atg I would have roy top ten and floyd top 5

Jones comp at LHW was no weaker than the comp that Mayweather fought at LW and JWW. Castillo and Gatti certainly are no better than Hill or Tarver, or even Griffin and Woods.

And Jones didn't beat Ring champions to win his titles because there were NO RING CHAMPIONS for most of his career. You cannot do what doesn't exist. It's a moot point and not relevant.

There is no value in winning one organizations belt over and over. No idea why you even mentioned it. I can easily point out that Mayweather stayed in 4 weight classes less than 5 fights each, a couple of which he was there for 3 fights or less, and thats why he won titles in more weight classes. That is not overly impressive.

As far as Jones being around longer, Jones hasn't accomplished any of those things since he was 34, the last time he won a title fight or beat a champion. So Mayweather better hurry up if he plans on getting 3 more champions AND 10 more title defenses in the next 3 years or so.

You basically just repeated what I just said in long form. He won 5 titles in 5 weight classes. That's the only thing he did that Jones didn't and even that may not be overly impressive.

Amsterdam picks only CURRENT fighters in these types of matchups.
