There are a good group of posters here, who's opinions I respect, and who don't post regularly in the classic forum. I want their opinions and I think its an intriguing (and as I stated before, under discussed) match.
Fair enough. I'll keep my donkey ass out of the thread from now on then. Just pointing out that the poll will probably be pretty inconclusive, although from what you have said you will probably only be looking for certain opinions anyway.
But Gavilan was a great stylist himself. Why do you automaticaly assume Floyd outboxes him? What sets Floyd apart?
One word "smarts"....not to say that Gavilan was dumb....but Mayweather is a machine..he can figure out any style put in front of him.
Not true, he has figured out every style put in front of him. How much of that has been true great opposition? Answer: None.
There are many who have seen him fight. You under estimate this forum, and you havent been here long enough to make judgements. In fact, your only redeeming quality is the man in your avatar. :yep
I'd have to say a Floyd UD though Gavilan would stand a hell of a chance. Hard to say who would win with the stylistec advances that have been made in the sport.
Lets not turn this into a Floyd hate thread...because if your not Jermain Taylor or Oscar De LeHoya...then you realy havent fought ALOT of great competition. Floyd is simply the most talented boxer I have ever seen...on every level.
Seeing how he went the distance with Robinson twice I can't see Floyd putting him away. The only Gavilan I've seen is highlights from a Latin Legends DVD so I see Gavilan winning a decision that could have gone either way. Floyd will land and will probably get hit less but won't be able to walk away without being part of a disputed decision.
