Yo, **** BOTH OF THEM. Floyd is on that level of a sweat pea and a roy. Sweat pea was probably the hardest to beat b/c of his style and natural ability. But he was less of a threat then Floyd and Jones. With Floyd, if you get tired, get lazy or just cant box he will break you down and get you out of there. Pea was purely a boxer and not as aggressive. Roy was an animal but had flaws and he did get hit even in his prime. His speed and power and offensive delivery are better then Floyds but he had hard times and did not look good against c level opponents lesser then a Castillo. Thats this big ass misconception that he looked like ROY THE GREAT in every fight..that is bull****.

If a fighter like Hatton tryed to maul prime Roy he would have gotten knocked out cold early because he has such poor defence :good
Like Glen Johnson did...:rofl:rofl nah. Its a difference between mauling with punches and mauling with greco wrestling.
Man I was being serious. I had you down as a bit of a Floyd hugger but seriously if somebody with the same lack of defence as Hatton was fighting Roy would he have lasted as long. Also would he have been so eager to rush in after taking a hard counter?
What? I beleive that, you cannot prove anything that you say either a forum is for an exchange of idea's you twat. I belive that because Roy would not have let somebody move in on him like that at his best, he just didnt he would have counterpunched him on the way in with much bigger punch's than Floyd hit him with because he was a much bigger puncher. Roy would have stopped somebody like Hatton inside 4 rounds.
In fairness, though, the Glen Johnson that fought RJJ that evening was probably giving a prime Jones a pretty stern test, even at his best. He jabbed well (people forget that), did a great job of setting up his combinations , and didn't get flustered when Jones tried to go on the attack. It wasn't as one-dimensional a performace as people seem to think it was, even if Jones was damaged goods. I think "The Road Warrior" would always have been one of Jones's tougher defenses at LH...taking about four rounds, and being competitive throghout the fight.
You're way off base. Aside from a little knockdown against Del Valle, when did Roy ever look bad against a C level or even B level fighter? He looked better against James Toney than Floyd has looked period. And Toney is better than anyone Floyd has fought. Floyd has trouble(or at least a harder time taking out) a fighter like Hatton, Chavez, etc than Roy did. Roy handled guys like that like he did Pazienza, and even better fighters like Virgil Hill. Roy was the hardest fighter to beat of that trio, because while Pea made you look like an idiot, Roy could do that and hurt you at the same time. Floyd waits for the opportunity to show before hurting you, or just takes a decision if he can.
Agreed. Don't get me wrong, though..I'm not agreeing with Toopretty's assement of Jones when I make that point. I'm just saying that Johnson used a much more tactical approach to applying pressure against Jones than Hatton did against Mayweather. The best example of a fighter using that type of approach agianst RJJ was Merqui Sosa...and he lasted all of two rounds.
