~150 lbs vs upper 150s at their primes, who wins? I think Mosley could outbrawl Gavilan with his own speed and power, but would Gavilan have enough of a mentality to jab, box, and counterpunch, and would he be able to do any of that enough to win?

Mosley isn't going to outbrawl Gavilan. The Kid went the distance with Robinson, Williams and Lausse so I don't see Mosley being able to dent his chin. Mosley's speed keeps him in the game, but Gavilan would dictate the pace and pick up a clean decision. Would be a pretty entertaining fight but Gavilan's superior strength and boxing IQ are the key factors here.

I don’t think Gavilan would be stronger than the guy who once benched 300+ lbs, also Gavilan had trouble with Olson’s size and Olson weighed a hair less than Mosley did. But Mosley would be less aggressive than Olson was, which would indeed help Gavilan

I don't really think Mosley's bench pressing ability is of much relevance here. How many times did we see Shane impose his physical advantages on an opponent effectively? He did it against Margarito, but his game plan in that fight was to prevent Margarito from getting inside so he could keep him in the center of the ring and tee off on him. That won't work against Gavilan because Gavilan isn't going to be a stationary target. Quite honestly, I see brawling here as the worst strategy Mosley could go for. His rhythm was offset by Mayorga's brawling tactics and he had to throw caution to the wind and go all out for the kill to win that fight. That doesn't bode well for him against a fighter like Gavilan, who would not only be applying constant pressure, but also does everything better than Mayorga. And again, I don't think Shane can hurt Gavilan, not matter what he does. I think Gavilan had one of the best chins in the sport's history and while Mosley could crack, he wasn't a Hearns/Robinson type puncher at the higher weights.

Different levels here. Entirely different levels.

    The Keed beats Shane up.

    Wide decision loss for Mosley.

Gavilan should win, but not sure this would be a dominant blowout. Mosley would have his moments, but ultimately the Kid would take home a decisive win.

Gavilan, by a unanimous decision, on the lines of 10-5 in rounds. Too much experience for Mosley.
