Kid Gavilan vs Sugar Ray Leonard

    Very, very difficult problem. This is a very difficult problem.

    Good luck severely reduced board, with this one. I live in hope of illumination.

    I agree, this is a very tough one. Leonard's vaunted punch is not going to do anything to the Gavilan jaw and Gav doesn't have the punch to take out Ray, so its going 15 rounds. Ray could match the Kid in flurries, but the thing is with Gav is that he fights like that for 15 not just in flurries. I tend to lean slightly to Ray, but to tell you the truth, I wouldn't be betting anything on that. If there was anyone out there who had a solid chance of outpointing/outhustling Ray Leonard both in their prime, it would be Gavilan.

    Leonard would have to keep Gavilan off him or match him in punch output. It would fun to watch him try both. Tossup.

    i did one of these threads years ago. I was facinated by Gavilan after a ring article. Haven't seen much footage of Kid.

    Ray Leonard is not Sugar Ray Robinson.....and Gavilan hung tough with Robinson.

    Gavilan in an upset over SRL.
