I have Kid Gavilan 3rd. I could see an arguement for 4th but no lower than that. H2H Gavilan/Leonard is a tossup IMO. Napoles was awesome. I would love to see both of those fights with each man at their best.
Welterweight Title Fights. He was apparently allergic to fighting non-top contenders. 07/49: Ray Robinson L-UD15 05/51: Johnny Bratton W-UD15 08/51: Billy Graham W-SD15 02/52: Bobby Dykes W-SD15 07/52: Gil Turner W-TKO11 10/52: Billy Graham W-UD15 02/53: Chuck Davey W-TKO10 09/53: Carmen Basilio W-SD15 11/53: Johnny Bratton W-UD15 10/54: Johnny Saxton L-UD15 (Blah)

Well, the point is if he is on equal footing to men larger than he, then that only serves to put him over the top in his own weight class.
wrong post for me to quote but i couldn't be bothered scrolling back up. Do you really think Napoles skin is that much of a factor? By that I mean, minus the skin would you pick Napoles?
No, I wouldn't pick him anyway but any chance he has will be negated when his face turns to mush. It cost him against lesser fighters. Skillswise Napoles is faultless but if it could cost him against guys who weren't brilliant ten it would in some other instances, like it would against Gavilan. Wasn't a factor in some of his best wins though. Against Gavilan it'd be very close. Close enough that Gavilan would shred him IMO. Anyway, LMR all the way.
**** off. Just ****. Off. Please die. While listening to some 'Somba music'. Or explain yourself. Not that you could ever explain your way out of that.
He beat Turner, Basilio and I believe Graham in their hometowns. I think Gil Turner was undefeated at the time the Kid stopped him. Impressive run.
