Kiko martinez claims he will stop Frampton in 8

Again with the exception of Dunne and Booth(who was finished) who has this monster puncher stopped? Since Dunne in 2007 give me someone of note

 

Maybe u think Booth was wasted but he never was stopped before and he didnt win a single round in April against kiko. Martinez is a big puncher, and he dont go wild like three years ago. Now, he first will punish the body, then will catch Carl with a wild right hand and game over. Who is in Framptons record to think he´s other thing than an underdog in this fight?

 

But then when you look at the fight you have to turn it around and ask what level Frampton has been fighting at.

 

I totally agree gaz but I still think Carl even at this stage holds more talent than a bloke13-13. I think there is alot of potenial with Frampton and belive he's better than Rendall

 

I've only seen 2 of his latest 3 fights and, though he looked promising, there was a lot of "work in progress" about him IMHO.

Martinez is no world beater but he's good couple of levels above the guys Frampton has been beating. A definate step up and I guess we'll see whether he's ready for it or not.

The major difference between Martinez and the guys Frampton has been fighting is Martinez is actually coming to win. Seems an obvious statement, but it really is a different ball game to someone who half heartedly believes he might do something in a fight. Martinez is going to come and put him under serious heat.

Frampton was mediocre in his last outing by the way.

 

Of course thats the case this is his first test, not all prospects fold though.

 

It's even more the case against someone like Martinez though, style wise. You're not going to get an easy night even if you outclass him somewhat. And its the type of fight where unless he scores an early KO with a good shot his intangibles could really be tested. So its not really like fighting some random step up/European level opponent.

Plus I don't think people are noting the mistakes Frampton was making against some random guy in his last fight. It wasn't that impressive really.

 

Nah, you're right but I think Frampton maybe skipping a "level" in this fight if you know what I mean? He's barely at domestic class and he's stepping up to Euro level, arguably borderline world class.

I think maybe another fight or 2 at a slightly higher level than he has been fighting at to bridge the gap would have been an idea before taking on Martiez....?

TFFP Groves was a lot worse against Anderson going into the Degale fight. I think Carl will find tricky awkard fighters harder than Martinez who will be right in front of him

 

I didn't really understand that point since Groves struggled with Anderson who was coming in at short notice, and here is Frampton coming in against a fully fit Martinez. ergo, if he performed to the level Groves did and you'd think Martinez is better than Anderson and certainly better prepared he'd lose !

Frampton will struggle with a lot of people, he's been overrated to insane levels on here. Especially by Rob, claiming he's the best prospect in the universe ever.

Frampton is overrated. I remember watching him fight against Ian Bailey on the McCloskey/Lauri undercard. After the fight people were saying he totally destroyed Bailey, but Bailey gave a good account of himself and was certainly not destroyed. Frampton looked average enough in his last fight. Frampton seems a humble enough lad, it's McGuigan that's hyping him up.
Kiko Martinez has definitely improved since his Munroe losses. Back then his was just a one-trick pony. He just tried to blast everybody out of it. Since then he has brushed up on his boxing skills and is no longer just a pure brawler (his fight against Booth showed that).

As somebody else said Kiko is fringe world-level against Carl who's an unproven prospect who has beaten no-one of note. You would have to favour Martinez, but hopefully Frampton can do the business.

 

Martinez is an excellent pressure fighter. Rendall struggled with him and really had to pull it out of the bag and he's a monster at the weight. Not to mention I think Martinez has improved a fair bit. He'll break Frampton down in the late rounds much like the Booth fight.
