Yea but giving the other guy a complete beating in sparring seems counterproductive.

What the $#@* was that BS?!?!?!?! I have now lost COMPLETE respect for that chump Kirkland!

I hope whoever fights him next knocks his a$$ out again. That was some weak sauce BS. You got a guy that dazed in sparring you back off and circle until he clears his head. That clown falls down then runs over and clocks him? WEAK! They should have stopped it then because Vera couldn't protect himself. Where was all that toughguy BS when Ishida was knocking his sorry a$$ out with jabs! Hahaha!

Don't get me wrong, hard sparring is good, but teeing off on guys out on their feet is BS. Even in a pro REAL fight.

Clearly no one here has boxed a day in their life...that's typically how most sparring sessions are. You get the **** beaten out of you. You then develop or build a keen sense of awareness and strategy. That in which you begin to apply and voila...sparring sessions become less of a beating. There's a reason why some gyms have their LW contenders sparring WW or strong JMW.

Kirkland is clearly a guy that doesn't care much for the well being of others, but typically when you see a guy hurt you somewhat slow down on the assault, but NEVER take it easy on him. It helps no one. Vera isn't getting any love over there in that gym. Anne wasn't looking out for him and it shows. He should be sparring bigger dudes. Bombing out guy's who can't take it improves nothing.

    Kirkland still has no defense.

I can't wait till he gets knocked out again.

Hard sparring session is an understatement there. At least Ann Wolfe stepped in when Vera's head was getting snapped around like a tetherball. How Kirkland absorbs punishment like that in a real fight remains to be seen. As long as he does what Wolfe always had him do(the tortuous and unorthodox conditioning that hardens the body AND the mind) he should regain his durability. It was as much a mental thing for him as anything.

You clearly don't box much. That line reveals too much.

You are out of your mind. And that BS about how it typically is? Again, BS. That sparring session was fine up until he fell. Vera was dazed as hell, fine. Kirkland fell and Vera was just staggering. Any coach other than that idiot Anne Wolf should have wiped off Kirkland's gloves, looked over to Vera and called it a good session.

There is a difference between getting the best of a sparring partner and knocking the hell out of a guy who is unable to defend himself.

I think you hit than nail on the head. Vera is not being looked out for and Anne is an evil coach who pulled some BS. JK can't spar anyone bigger. Vera even had him rocked in that session.

Um, I do. And when I have guys rocked so hard they are falling through the ropes? I back off for them to gather themselves. Ruining sparring partners doesn't help you or your gym. Getting good hard work does.

No in a pro fight there is a ref in the ring to stop it so it is on the ref. Just like RJJ last KO. Also, if you fall down punching, your gloves are wiped off.

Granted, I am a little hyped because I am a Brian Vera fan. :yep

Bryan was pretty much out on his feet at the middle of the clip, at that point most trainers would have told Kirkland to back of but Ann chooses to let them continue and Kirkland throws a a punch that would have taken Bryan head off. I've heard that Ann runs a very hard camp but what i saw was pretty much reckless.

Come on Varg, that is weak. How do you know who knows what? Anyway, they are called gym wars. Philly is known for that. There usaully is an agreement to go all out, but what he did was BS. He got imbarassed that he fell and took it out on the guy. Like he did not see that the other guy had his hands down. Typically, for what you are saying, you take on bigger guys to go all out not your weight or lesser. Also, you are working on some type of technique and gameplan not just throw bombs. Of course if you know you hurt the other guy bad, you back off or whovever is incharge yells or gets inbetween. I've boxed for many years and I have gone all out and worked on gameplans too. I also went to a gym where I was still green and they told the other guy to try to knock me out. Marling Starling's nephew. He couldn't and actually got hurt himself. I got lucky, but it takes the heart from someone who is still learning and they won't return ever after a beating. I think it is just classless back then and now. No disrespect Varg, just an opinion.
