I totally agree. Ken Shamrock isn't even gatekeeper status anymore. Thompson was known as a bit chinny too (albeit, maybe not AS chinny, but certainly Thompson was picked, like Shamrock, because he was very very KOable) and I don't think Thompson's ground game is very impressive but he beat Kimbo on the ground. I think a heel hook is extremely possible, especially off of a scramble from a poor takedown attempt or a partially successful takedown attempt. Kimbo is pretty evasive, but I think Shamrock COULD initiate a clinch without getting KOd, and from there he could win by submission or GnP him out simply by tiring him out. Even at 44 I bet Shamrock has better cardio than Kimbo. Either way, it will be the first time I've ever rooted for Shamrock in a fight.
It's pathetic when you see a fight like this coming... everyone hates it... and nobody can do anything about it. I have defended Kimbo against some hatred, but this was a ***** move that everyone knew was coming. I hope that Ken Shamrock runs straight for Kimbo, and does a baseball slide right into a heel hook.
Kimbo better knock him right out or make sure he learns good submission defense even if Shamrock is 44...
I agree due to submissions it is his most dangerous fight. I think Elite XC made the right matchup to get the highest rating they could at this point.
i gotta say i hope shamrock wins and this is ***** matchmaking by elitexc, the shouldve matched him with that young dog that called him out then we wouldve seen kimbo knocked out. although now we can possibly see kimbo get his ankle broken.
I have no doubt that if they were to fight that Brett Rogers would knock Kimbo out. If Elite XC is going to fold, why not just throw Kimbo to the wolves against a legit fighter?
Got to protect that investment plus Shamrock is the best way to make money. Shamrock has been KOed cold for atleast a split secound in each of his last 5 fights including 1 either by a neck jab or the wind of Berrys right hand but it dont matter hes still cause he draws and doesnt pose a big threat. I hope it back fires on them with Shamrock turning back the clock and us hearing Kimbos ankle snap on live TV.
This fight is going to come down to how Shamrock's ego allows him to approach the fight. If everyone warns him to stay away from trading strikes with Kimbo - then he'll no doubt go into the ring to prove he is a superior striker and wind up getting KTFO. If Ken plays it smart and dedicates himself to the takedown and his submissions - then he should break Kimbo in half. I haven't seen Ken fight a smart fight since - - - Pancrase? Expect the KO.
Shamrock is coming off about a one minute knock out loss. Why doesn't Kimbo fight Buzz Berry instead?
Cause Berry won atsch The same reason Kimbo didnt fight Brett Rogers after he KOed James Thompson on the Kimbo-Tank undercard. If you wanna fight Kimbo lose your previous bout thats how it goes.
