Kimbo Slice on CBS and Kelly Pavlik

Yeah, that was weak. Kimbo has learned a few things but hasn't learned them well. Thompson has all the striking power of a man half his size, and the ref should have let him get pounded a while longer.

 

Well to an extent, I agree. Elway and Montana are close too. But still to say they get the attention of Tiger, Jordan, etc... I can't see that. Still huge star though, don't get me wrong. Tom Brady is one of the few QB's I've seen to have that much success and not have all of America on his nuts 24/7, on the flip side.

There are crazy Kimbo Slice threads going on now.. He has no skills.. He's just a powerful brawler.. Wladimir, Peter, & Haye all KO him.. Even if he was to last the first few rounds, his stamina would be **** and would KO his own self from exhaustion..

All very good points. I forgot about Gretzky, speaking for where I'm from, I doubt anybody around here has EVER seen a live Hockey game, but know who the hell Gretzky is.:yep

 

MMA si doing something that boxing isnt right now...When is the last time there was a free show of boxing that included 4 big time fights...by big time fights I dont mean Cotto against Gomez. I hate to admit it but is getting big and its almost sickening how most of those bums dont have the talent to last 3 rounds. Well thanks to golden boy, king, arum for always ****ing things up and not satisfying the fans but only the pockets of their fighters.

 

You make good points. But I take solace in the fact that even the crowd in the arena thought it sucked, including the MW title fight that got booo'd for the majority of it.

CBS has to realize, that just like in the sitcoms they air that has that back ground "laughing" sound you hear every time something is funny, the MMA show last night was a bunch of BOOOING to give the home viewer the feel that what they were watching SUCKED.:deal

 

Well lets not act that in Kelly's rematch with JT the crowd started booing early ! And for the most part most of the matches last night were entertaining as hell !! Better yet the two woman who fought last night had a better match than Hatton/Lazcano Mallinagi /Ndou combined !!

 

Indeed. My primary point thru out this thread has been that as much as I like Kelly and wish for his success, I just can NOT see him being a mainstream Mega-Star. "it" just isn't there. Can you imagine Pavlik on Schick Razor commercials, or Kelly Pavlik's Punch Out Video Game? Actually the video game could be cool..lol.

Dude can fight like crazy, but I don't see all that working....but I'm no expert either, like I said earlier.

Hey I wasn't offended at all ..Its your perogative if you like it or not ..Kelly in orderf for him to have that cross over appeal he just needs to keep winning ..As long as he does that the fame and glory will continue to come ..

 

I was listening to ESPN radio during the week an the host described Kimbo Slice as the MMA version of Mike Tyson, so i make a point of watching the fight and what a load of shite.Slice was lucky to beat a tomato can showing little power and little or no skill.
I'm not a big MMA fan but i would imagine Kimbo won't have a very long career in the sport,i doubt if he lasts 1 round with the elite of MMA.

BTW - how amateur were the commentators.I thought they were garbage - they spent half the fight making fun of Thompsons cauliflower ear - ******s

 

He was very close to being ko'd when in the second when THompson was bashing him with little pounches and elbos. To be honest they could've decided to stop it after the second when Kimbo couldn't hardly get up off the canvas.

 

When I saw his ear at first I thought he might be related to Dr Spock. Why didn't he drain that thing? Collasas that was the size of his ear.

 

Interesting but I think most Americans root for underdogs and want see a white boxer as champ a least as much as they want the crude street fighter make it big time. In fact, market savvy politicians have employed Kelly quite a bit already but Kimbo hasn't got to endorsee anyone yet

Oh and Versus had fantastic MMA last night and with mostly white guys.
