There's no such thing as a mma version of Tyson. Two different sports.
The closest thing you can get to perfection in mma is this (master of submissions & sambo. let's say he's the ali of mma if you will)
    [yt]puyVzF0vfsc[/yt]

He generally gets paid 1million to 2million per fights but he's not popular enough. one of his fights in bodog only had 12000 ppv buys.

He costs a fortune for all orgs who are trying to make some competition to the ufc. Ironically , dana white was never able to buy him and because of that , randy couture broke his contract and left the ufc...(because couture wanted to fight him for the HW belt)

I didnt even see 1 big time fight last night.

The whole production was a failure IMO.More commercials and hype than actual action.Kimbo looked like he was ready to go and proved that the second he gets in there with a solid grappler he will gas and lose.

Having the crowd BOO for half the night didnt help them either.

Everyone claims how Kimbos is unskilled, he's not the top of MMA. Here's one thing that I find interesting. You can watch 2 unskilled MMA fighters go at it and it looks exactly the same as when 2 supposedly top fighters go at it.

When you see 2 boxers who are not good, it's immediatley appearent.

(and yes I do know about martial arts, so i know what moves to look for in a match, to me, MMA is just simply asthetcally unpleasing, no matter how good the compeditor is)

This is a criticism that often gets levelled against MMA fights by people who rarely, if ever watch MMA.
You'll actually find that boxing is often more WWE like in it's behaviour - i.e. flashy ring entrances, trash talk, pre-fight scuffles at press conferences and weigh ins, etc.

The ring entrances on the show last night were atleast 1/3 of the provided entertainment.:yep

Very little actual action, for such a long ass show.

That was a huge problem of having to get all the commercials in.

I dont recall having to watch Burger King commercials every 5 minutes when watching fights.

That was a night of LOW QUALITY fighters being called "some of the best athletes in the World" over and over and over.

It's simple MMA has attracted the WWE crowd.

I would rather have Boxing stay as it is than to make the jump to CBS and put on a production like that.Corporate WHORISM at it's best.

Yep, I'm not a fan of big ring entrances. That was probably my biggest reason for hating Hamed back in his day.
Of course, watch a UFC card. Ring entrances are pretty minimal. I don't ever recall seeing someone being carried in on a throne before a UFC fight.

I agree. But, yah gotta pay the bills. CBS ain't a cheap network compared to a some of the networks MMA cards have been on.

Yep, hyperbole can be annoying. Seen an HBO broadcast lately? They are more refined in their presentation, but they can be a wildly out of control hype train at times.

What's your basis for this statement other than the fact that the presentation of the event was cheesy? UFC and other MMA events have been around for years, and have distinguished themselves as being very different from WWE. Now, with one CBS show, MMA is attracting the WWE crowd? I highly doubt the demographic of who watches MMA and who doesn't is going to shift wildly based on one CBS show.

Bad production can be forgiven if the quality of the product is good. Last night was so/so. A couple of really good fights, and some disappointments. It didn't change the world, but it certainly didn't totally suck either.

Well, GSP is a pretty rare kind of fighter, but there are tons of very skilled, capable competitors in MMA.
Don't make the mistake of assuming that last night's card on CBS was somehow a representation of the MMA world. It was only one card.

The Cal/Hopkins fight needed a little MMA. Way too much clinch and rest in that one. In MMA the fight doesn't pause in that situation and wait for the ref to meander over and start it again. In Pride, you lost 10% of your purse each time you were called for stalling. Up to 3 times before you were DQ'ed. You don't have to like MMA, but people that can't see the skill in the top competitors just aren't trying.

    No it was ****.

And the main event.....please.They make Kimbo sound like some monster and nearly gets beat buy a below average fighter.

All in all it was ****.....did you not hear the crown BOO'ing half the night.

Yeah you gotta pay bills so therefor we will remind you to go buy a Whopper every 5 minutes.About a hundred different sponsors being thrown in your face.Trying to sell every song that was played during the broadcast. These guy's are starting to look like a walking NASCAR.

MMA attracted the NASCAR and WWE crowd.More money invested into lasers and fireworks than fighters.

Hmmm isnt Jack Presscot the character who used a pretty girl to trap and enslave King Kong for profit?

Didnt Don King have the hag raping Mayorga surrounded by beautiful chicas just before the De la Hoya match; and didnt he provide Tyson numerous young Japanese candies before the Douglas match; and African queenies to Foreman just before the Ali match?

Could the relatively ignorant Shaw be oversexing Kimbo? Did boxing promoter put a sex-weak Kimbo on CBS just to expose MMA? I doubt it but I bet Kimbo has got to "nose" things a little bit better under Gary Shaw

Is Jack Prescott somehow associated with Don King?:think
