I disagree. It wasn't all ****. The Lawlor/Smith fight was very good. Are you telling me you weren't entertained by that fight?

I agree the hype was out of control on Slice. Even with that, I found his fight entertaining even though it was clearly two low calibre fighters going at it.

Yes, I heard them booing during the Lawlor/Smith fight which turned out to be a great match. Don't mistake stupid fans with knowledgeable ones.
Ever seen a boxing card where the crowd ends up booing a boring fight? Happens all the time. ( PBF/Baldomir anyone?) That doesn't mean boxing sucks overall, does it?

You know this for a fact, or you are just speculating on the demographic of the audience?

Can you provide proof that it's not?

You dont want to accept that last night's card was a failure.

I'm not making a claim either way. I have no idea what the demographic breakdown of the viewing audience was. However, you seem to be indicating you do. Feel free to provide that proof if you are so convinced.

Actually, I believe I have stated that I don't think last night's card was a failure. They was some generally entertaining moments. Granted if I expected every moment of every fight be be amazing, then I would have been disappointed. But, those kind of expectations would just be silly.

The fights were entertaining, the broadcast was ****. The commercials, the long breaks between fights.

It was their first broadcast, give CBS a chance to retry this.

Umm you think that they are going to play less commercials?

Are they somehow going to make Kimbo a good fighter over night(which they are trying to force down your throat).I wonder why they didnt show the replay of his first ever MMA fight?Could it be that his opponent took a dive and tapped out after being grazed by a punch?

    This **** wont last.

Who said Kimbo would be the main event? Obviously the commercials will be there but there was a lot CBS could of worked on. Specially with getting fights back to back to back instead of delayed.

Heh, are we going to get into a semantics argument now because I used the word "moments."

Overall, I felt the card was very entertaining. The Lawlor/Smith fight was excellent. Even the Slice fight was good, if you can see past the Kimbo hype and realize that these two guys were not top MMA guys.

If you felt the card was ****, then good for you. MMA may not be the sport for you then.

I remember Arum saying he was going to get Pavlik on Network TV. Also, Wlad Klitschko was rumored to fight Brock on Network TV before that fight but it did not happen. I wonder if Boxing will ever be back on Network TV?

But they wont because they are corporate whores.

There focal point is corporate whorism and not the event.

You think they are going to dump Burger King ads so they can speed up the action?HIGHLY doubt it.

That's one of the perils of being on network TV as opposed to pay per view. Let me let you in on little secret. Back when boxing was on network TV, they used play commercials. Granted, the commercialism wasn't as huge back then, but that's just indicative of the modern state of sports. Seen the Super Bowl lately?

Ever seen some of the tomato cans Mike Tyson (or any other prospect) fought early on in his career. Are you not familar with the way fighters are brought into a sport slowly, whether it be MMA or boxing?

Whether it lasts on CBS or not remains to be seen. It may not. But MMA has been around for quite awhile now and doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. This CBS show wasn't the end all be all. Although it does go to show how popular MMA has become, whether it lasts on CBS or not.

Sorry, but overall I felt it was and others are reflecting those sentiments in the MMA forum as well.
Again, if you felt it wasn't, MMA isn't the sport for you.
