Well the promo is because he WILL fight again; somebody's going to get injured/leave the house/get kicked out.
Kimbo was the main focus of the show. And to the uneducated fan, Kimbo just got beat by an "out of shape white guy with a big belly". Of course they forget to remember Nelson is a former IFL champ and has good experience and is in a whole new level of MMA than Kimbo is. Once again Kimbo gets stopped and it's the people the general public least expect. Kimbo should just try boxing now. He'll get KO'd by midlevel journeyman there but he could make another hype run. He's on his 2nd hype run now since the first loss and he's always going to be marketable no matter who he loses to it seems. None of the Kimbo Slice hype scenarios are exactly his fought. Kimbo's just trying to fulfill the American dream but he's ending up as the next Butterbean.
I hope it isn't Jones that Kimbo replaces, if he does indeed get another chance to fight. I really want to see what he can do. Jones is huge, and may run out of gas quickly. I am well aware. NFL quality athletes have extraordinary abilities, and I'm curious to see this ground game he spoke of to Kimbo on tonight's broadcast. Where is Wes Sims? Do I just happen to be away from the tv when he is on?
Wait wait I missed this thread. You guys are still watching TUF? How can you love MMA and watch this garbage? Have they peed on each other yet?
Have you heard something? Do you have a reliable source? I'm tuning in each week until I see it. jk jk jk Chimba, look at the most viewed thread on the front page of the mma forum. Again, I'm just kidding around; but Kimbo is undeniably marketable.
Yes he is, seems like a nice guy too. But man, after that debacle with Seth..who the hell cares? Whats the mans upside? none whatsoever. Hes soft spoken, borderline intelligent contradicting his appearance somewhat. But **** me ..does that make for a compelling TV character now? My God, were really living in an age of shallow standards to find this guy mildly interesting.
I think Roy Nelson could beat Kongo. Kongo's ground game is nonexistent much like Kimbo's. He don't have the best take defense either. Nelson has a pretty good chin, I think he would take him down, control the fight and win a decision.
I've been saying this for quite some time, how in the world did Kimbo get some reputation as some kind of solid striker. This guy just sucks on the feet. With that said, he was getting the better of the standup, not by much but fighting a guy like Nelson who is a very solid ground fighter wont do him any favours in hiding his ground game.
At the end of the first round, Roy landed 44 (That's 4 and another 4. Fourty-Four) unanswered punches! (Doesn't this remind anyone of his fight with James Thompson where he ate elbows to the head for over a minute with no stoppage?) This fight should have been stopped in the first round. I'm shocked that a referee like Herb Dean allowed it to continue. And loooool at some of the people in here trying to defend Kimbo or the situation. He was in a crucifix position! That is one of the worst possible positions to be in! I'd rather Brock Lesnar had the mount or my back rather then a crucifix. You're basically ****ed if you're there. There's VERY little hope for defense (and you had better be a very high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practicioner), and you're going to take unanswered, undefendable shots for as long as the guy on top wants to hit you. This was about as one-sided as it gets.
How laughable to see writers saying Kimbo put on a good performance. That was utter crap. One idiot even said the performance showed he could win a fight in the UFC or K-1. Kimbo would get ko’ed by a c level k-1 fighter easily.
Kimbo was pretty bad. Throwing a knee and putting himself off balance. Letting himself get easily mounted. Getting caught with the same move in the first and second round. It was pretty poor. Physically, I think he has it but mentally I think his fight IQ is poor.
