I don't think Kov will want this fight anytime soon.

    I don't blame him either

One of members of the commentary team for Beterbiev's last fight said it was actually untrue that Beterbiev and Kovalev fought each other twice in the amateurs.

Beterbiev said it himself so I'll take him as a source.

Isn't Beterbiev on Showtime and Kovalev on HBO? It seems like Beterbiev would have an easier time making a fight with Stevenson.

I have no idea if it's true or not but I've researched both Beterbiev and Kovalev's amateur records online as thoroughly as I've been able to and I've found nothing to corroborate it being true at all. It may indeed be true but I'm just repeating what the commentator said. I don't care either way as I'm a huge fan of both of them. The only think that p*sses me of about that is I still haven't seen any footage of them going at it in the amateurs.

This is got to be one of the most anticipated fights in boxing. It will take a while to simmer and brew, but when these two juggernauts finally colide it's gonna be explosive

some people saying kovalev was robbed twice, others saying they didnt even fight twice...

I assume no fact checkng was done.

From what I know of it the were in the ring twice, once was a spar that beterbiev got the better of, the second was a fight that beterbiev won

I've tried to find out if they fought once or twice but I never came across anything saying they fought more than once, which they may well have done. The only info regarding them fighting I found was when Beterbiev beat him 25-24 in the Russian nationals in 2007, IIRC. I've heard they sparred each other though, which is perfectly plausible seeing as they were both members of the national team and fought at the same weight.

Well Kovalev was beaten by Korobov in the ams and he just got done outboxing Bernard Hopkins and Mattvey just got KTFO by Andy Lee, obviously some people get better and some get worse, Krusher is BETTER now.

    It definitely is true.

I was watching Beterbiev fight Makarenko in the National Championship finals in Russia and the tv comentator made a comment how Artur had a tough fight in the semis with Kovalev, apparently he was trailing a bit but really brought the heat in the last minute or so and pulled it out.

According to Wikipedia, Kovalev lost to Beterbiev in the 2007 Russian Championships. Don't know the actual scoring, but that was 8 years ago, when Kovalev was around 23.

I think a lot has changed in 8 years time. Kovalev is the better boxer. He's better at moving around the ring and his power is not too shabby. The only real advantage I see from Beterbiev is his physical strength and 1-punch KO power.

If Kovalev lands cleanly on Beterbiev, he would get knocked out. This isn't a 23 year old Kovalev and there won't be any headgear.
