I just caught the very end of the Loeffler/360° Promotions card on UFC FIghtpass; they showed highlights of the full card. The accurate punching and powerful Irish southpaw looked pretty good taking apart 37 year old heavy-handed Olymic gold medalist Dauren Maratovich "Kazakh Hero" Yeleussinov. Dougie Fischer interviewing him in the ring commented that he would be moving up the rankings now, almost certain to crack 10 in all the world sanctioning bodies at 154lb anytime now - which Walsh waved off saying "Ah don't give a fook. Just give me whoever's next ta fight, I'll fight em" Bummed to not be in time for a full RBR, but I like the kid based on the little seen.
Walsh's countryman from up north a ways (Dublin, other end of the ROI from Cork) and fellow southpaw "Fearless" Feargal McCrory scored a third round body shot kayo against Mexican journeyman Carlos Osvaldo Carlson Martínez in the co-main. Earlier on the undercard, Cletus "The Hebrew Hammer" Seldin labored to an 8 round MD over José Marcos Angulo Quiñónez of Ecuador, then successfully proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the ring.

The kid is a complete and utter hype job and not only will he lose against the first live body he faces, but in my opinion, nd the opinion of everyone on here who saw it, he already has. His UD win over Ismael Villarreal was shameful. Here's my scorecard for that one. Also, as far as the win over Dauren Yeleussinov tonight, clearly the Kazakh is a bust. He's already been KO'd in 1 by Junior Younan a year or so back, and he also took an L against some crappy African gatekeeper. So his stock at this point is in the crapper and a win over him doesn't mean much.
Ah damn, that would make him the latest in a long line of very hyped Irish prospects who turned out not to have the goods in the pros (I think Mighty Joe Ward might have been the last one I saw get exposed...in his debut, no less). I just liked the casually flippant IDGAF about the world rankings remark..but guess you wouldn't if you know deep down you're just a can-crusher being carefully maneuvered. Guess the jury's out on Feargal, unless he also has any robbery wins over journeymen?
How was Joe Ward a hypejob because he dislocated his knee in his debut? It was a freak accident, not a bad performance. He was easily winning up to the point of that occurrence.
For what it's worth, Villareal is a top notch very solid guy who's heavy handed and relentless, that I picked to beat Walsh, before Walsh had showed any chinks in his armor, who by all rights, should be undefeated. His SD loss against Ardreal Holmes was also a joke.Precisely because I rate Villareal so highly. So maybe I am being a little too harsh on Callum, he should have an L against a guy who should still have his 0. Not that big a deal, that being said, I do think another decent puncher at Light Middleweight. Haven't seen enough of Feargal to make a call one way or another, but just judging by the looks of him, he seems fragile.
I mean he definitely wasn't "easily winning"; it was an uneventful round and a half. Delgado had used a jab-step feint to mess with Ward's rhythm a few times already, and this time he caused him to dislocate his own patella biting on the feint. It was a combination of Buddy McGirt trying to change his amateur stance to poor results and Ward getting got by Delgado's feint that caused the injury. In the aftermath there was a lot of excuse-making and whining about how "that should be a NC, not a loss" (even though that's how self-injuries are ruled in boxing), and "Delgado was going to eventually get KTFO for sure!" (even though the rematch went the full six with no knockdowns) but the fact is he's 30 with fragile stems and the now all too familiar growing pains of excellent amateurs attempting in vain to adapt their styles to the pro game.
