He lives in Belmore, Met him through a mate of mine, he is an intense dude... think he has trouble getting fights over here
Ever since King had turned pro, many including myself said it will be tough for him to get fights. Being decent for a domestic boxer, certain potential opponents will avoid him...plus lets face it King doesnt bring much to the table in terms of selling tickets & being African FOX wont put him on now with their "only Aussie" policy. Tough predicament.
So Johnny Lewis is no longer training him?? Poor fella, sometimes it sucks being good at what you do.
I always thought he was a bit overrated. Handy, but he had a pretty big wrap on him. His opposition was poor but just watching him, he didnt excite me. And i think ( not sure) that he did run in to some management problems as someone suggested.
last time i spoke to him he was looking to move overseas to get a fight.no one would fight him here sad hes a nice guy has all the tools to be a good fighter
King is a good fighter,no doubt about that,,i hear he dont like putting in the hard yards at training,,maybe why Johnny hadnt trained him now for a long time..
i saw him fight ,wasnt impressed,he fought some bloke who everyone beats and i thought he was lucky to get the decision, and he carried on after like he was already a legend, dosnt surprise me he has management probs
I dont blame King Davidson moving out of Australia for other opportunities. Too many around his weightclass wouldnt go near him. Big risk...little reward or money.
I dont blame him either, he wasnt getting decent fights here. But i really thought he was overrated anyway kegs...i didnt see anything special about him tbh.
I agree regarding Davidson prob was overrated...still tho it just shows how some ran scared. A few Aussies could learn from someone like tough Frank LoPorto who took on Davidson without hesitation.
