This content is protected WBA #7 heavyweight Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson (20-0-1, 7KO) fresh off his 5th round destruction of former heavyweight champion of the world Bruce Seldon (38-7, 34KO) was left speechless, a very uncommon occurrence for the colorful Johnson, upon hearing that fellow top 10 heavyweight contender David Haye (21- 1, 20KO) was still looking for an opponent for his heavyweight debut on November 15th. This content is protected JOHNSON WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO PROVE HE IS THE BEST "I don't understand," said a perplexed Johnson who sat shaking his head for several minutes. "This guy runs his mouth for months saying that he is going to take over the heavyweight division, that he is going to knock this guy and that guy out, but here I am stepping up to the plate, and now he doesn't want the fight," questioned Johnson. "Maybe he thought I wouldn't want the fight and he wasn't prepared for my acceptance, but he obviously doesn't know Kevin Johnson then. I have said since day one that I would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. The fight with Haye would take place in his backyard, his homeland of London, and that still didn't bother me. He knows that it wouldn't matter if he had his entire country screaming and cheering for him because once he gets in that ring, it's just me and him. This guy is a complete joke, he talks all this crap how he will fight anyone and he is the man now in the heavyweight division, yet he has not fought anyone yet, and I am here telling him that I want the fight, I want to come to London and show his country what a real heavyweight looks like, and he punks out. He says he is the best heavyweight in the world, and I feel that I am the best, so to me it's simple, let's put the two best heavyweights in the world against one another and whoever comes out on top truly can call themselves THE best. Next time you plan on running your mouth and calling people out, be prepared to accept the consequences and be prepared to fight. Hopefully you will change your mind and man up and we can get this over with, but it's pretty obvious you are just flat out afraid of me and to be honest I can't blame you. I am reading now that his manager Adam Booth is saying that three guys have pulled out and acting like noone wants to fight this guy. They also accused me of asking for too much money. Those statements are both completely one hundred percent false. I heard that they offered the other guys more money than me anyways. Let's just stop the excuses and make this fight happen. If the big bad Haye is scared then I hope he is man enough to at least admit that. I am the best heavyweight in the division and to prove that I am willing to fight the best, or so-called best heavyweights out there. If anyone wants to challenge that or disagrees with my statement, call my promoter Joe DeGuardia at Star Boxing, he is great to work with and can set something up the following day if you want, I will be ready," stated an irate Johnson.
The question to be asked here is, why do all those quality fighters (Rahman, Toney, Golota, Makaev etc.) turn Haye's offer down? It appears to me that, given the number of fighters who turned the offer down, that the fighters don't overprize themselves (as it is stated in the press) but that on contrary Haye's management doesn't pay them according to the market prize. As we all know, boxing is all about business nowadays and it is safe to say that no top rank contender will risk his status for little money. If Haye's handlers don't opt for a change in their startegy soon, Haye will not be able to secure a name opponent for his November date.
haye is scrapeing the bottom of the barrel for a heavyweight fight ..heeeee knows who this guy is .. dont be fooled
Running from that fat lump of ****? Don't make me laugh! I do wonder about the kind of purses Haye is offering; is it that they are too low or is it more that the likes of Rahman, Toney and Maskaev want a huge payday for what would probably end up their retirement fight.
lol haye cracks me up i cant wait to see what his face looks like after he gets hit flush by a real hw for the first time i tried i just cant like the guy i think cancer is more enjoyable
I'm not impressed by a win over Seldon who was destroyed by Tye Fields after a years long layoff. I'm also not impressed by David Haye running his mouth then pursuing a fight with JD Chapman.

Haye and his management team our obviously full of it he needs to fight to back up all the trash talk
I think the Chapman suggestion both will make people more happy to see him fight Johnson (what size shirts does that guy take btw, 400?) than before Chapman was suggested. It also might help to reduce the price Johnson demands. That's hopeful talk though; by waiting everyone wait so long and then failing to name an opponent at the climactic press conference, they do look rather silly! Decent options in order of preference: Ibragimov Thompson Golota Rahman Maskaev Samil Sam Johnson Disappointing: Chapman Danny Williams Greenberg
This is exactly what is happening. Most of these so called top HWs admit that they don't know much about David Haye and yeah,of course they're quite happy to come over and fight an ex-Cruiserweight. Then they start to do some research and realise that there's a good chance they're not only going to lose, but get beaten so bad that it will effectively end their chances of a future title shot. So, they increase their monetry demands to compensate for this, or increase their demands to a point where the fight becomes uneconomic. You also have to bear in mind that the fighter will have managers, backroom staff and quite possibly INVESTORS who also don't want to see their asset knocked out unless they ALL get a decent payday out of it. This, unfortunately is how boxing works.
Sam just beat Paolo Vidoz back in July and has beaten previously Bob Mirovic, Peter Okhello, Lawrence Clay Bey, Julius Francis, and Danny Williams (KOing him before he beat Tyson). He has never been knocked out, losing only by decision, and to these fighters: Oliver McCall, Oleg Maskaev, Luan Krasniqi, Juan Carlos Gomez. I think he's a great test of whether someone is truly a world class heavyweight. No one would expect Haye to lose, but so what: this is a showcase, and if he can knockout someone none of those people could, then it's a serious achievement. He's ranked 11, 12, and 12 by the WBA WBC, and IBF respectively.
NB. Haye has never ducked a difficult challenge. On the contary he has actually SOUGHT out difficult challenges. Remember he travelled to France to face then Cruiser number one, and Don King fighter,Jean Marc Mormeck IN PARIS ON A DON KING SHOW knowing that he probably wouldn't get a points decision, followed by facing big punching WBO champ EnzoMac, a fight which was roughly a 50/50 fight according the the experts beforehand. He didn't need to take either fight and could have quite easily adopted an easier route
