Yall mutha****as better be excited because Kevin Johnson is going up against Martin Bakole on Saturday in Newcastle. I expect a masterclass from Johnson.
And he'll be stopped for the third time in his career, this time violently. I have no desire to see this.
Martin Bakole is the one who one-punch KO'd Perea in 1 (hard-hitting Spong failed to even hurt him once). The one who hurt Wach the most (which Wlad and roided versions of Povetkin and Miller failed to do). The one who destroyed DL Jones with single punch (unlike hard-hitting Dubois who hit Jones for 3 rounds before stopping him). If Johnson survives it means Bakoele doesn't land any meaningful punches.
Johnson has become a guy who shouldn't be licenced by legitimate sanctioning bodies. The tragedies that have happened recently has led me to think of the ways that these issues can be reduced. Not licencing past prime mediocre fighters against dangerous young opponents is one way to limit it.
Johnson is a defensive wizard. He will be just fine. Guys with decent chins who block punches with their face are far more prone for such injuries. Thinking about Dave Allen for example. Bakole wins on points after losing the opening round to Kingpin .
Johnson maybe biting off more than he can chew here. Fighting one of the heaviest hitters out there on 4 days notice with a week layoff isn’t wise, even for a guy like him.
And with Johnson, it is clear as day that he is not in there to actually compete. That alone should disqualify him from getting a license.
Guy actually has a good defence plus it helps that he dosent trade he doesn't open up don’t get tagged clean to much either. he just tucks up and gets his pay check.
