This card was originally supposed to feature Stephen "Cool Boy Scooter" Fulton vs. Esteban "Echavarria" Aquino in a 10-rounder (although, strangely, this was still going to have been subordinate to regional-grade journeymen Mercado and Vázquez in their 6-round battle in the main event, presumably since that pair despite their spotty records each have big local fan bases and thus are the primary ticket sellers for this show) but, some drama ensued, leaving the young Philly-representing unbeaten featherweight prospect without an opponent (with too little time for a replacement to be found) so that's a whole training camp in the rubbish bin. The reason? Aquino fought on Saturday, three nights ago, where he was KTFO...and that was his fourth stoppage in nine months, yet his people intentionally did not divulge this information to either the matchmaker or promoter of tonight's show. :shakehead:

"Chiquilín" Obando has sprung a couple of minor upsets: over Ronald Hearns a few years ago, plus then 14-0 (12) Mexican 160lber Jorge "Chino" Garcia this past February.

So if MP4 loses, he was a hype job, if he gets the stoppage, maybe a real prospect. Anything in between he remains a question mark.

    Round 1

Powell is controlling Obando with the jab, then opening up with can opener combos on the body and bringing some left hooks up top, swiveling at the hip to roll with Obando's haphazardly strewn in counter rights instead of slipping or blocking them. Powell is banging the low torso with hooks and drilling lead rights into the chest while circling to his left. Obando is pawing with a jab and looking to line up a big right hand but can never deliver it before Powell either darts in with body shots or step aside.

    10-9 Powell

Joe Hanks? No thanks! He should have gone away after Ruiz mopped the floor with him.

    Round 2

Powell is still piling on the body shots and deflecting Obando's jabs with rights shot into them from the side, T-boning his opponent's arm to knock it harmlessly away to his side. Powell is raising his bent left arm to protect his face as he thrusts his lead foot inside and begins swiveling away lumping hooks downstairs, then straightens and chases Obando into a backwards lean with a fishing-pole right.

    10-9 Powell

Well you're in luck, they chose to not include him on the broadcast. He fought a dark match before it went live. Hopefully they show it later if there is time and filler is needed.
wouldn't even take up much time, only lasted a couple of minutes...

    Round 3

Powell is focusing almost entirely on the body now. Obando is squeezing his elbows together with his fists winged out to either side, forming a triangle, everything from the breastplate up exposed. Obando is pushing out jabs and rights from his lower chest, lunging for the head and skimming the sideburns and fro-adorned scalp as Powell casually raises his left forearm parallel to his face to block and steps confidently around him while already unloading more body hooks.

    10-9 Powell

    Round 4

Powell is squatting and blasting the body, then stepping around with a high sailing right to cover his tracks, but not taking very careful aim with the head shots. Obando starting to open up and lead now, backing Powell up with the 1-2 and some wide looping rights (landing his inner arm on the back of Powell's neck). Powell just shells up and waits it out, then wedges his neck under Obando's armpit to await the ref's break. Once they're separated Powell is

10-9 Powell but actually very close, each won about 90 seconds' worth.

    Round 5

Powell is spending a lot more time shelling up and is getting tattooed by Obando's 1-2. Obando is spamming the combination over and over from long-range, never letting Powell take more than a step or two without getting stamped at the lash's tip of a 2-piece. Counter rights from Powell have little effect.

    10-9 Obando

    49-46 Powell

    Round 6

Powell looks to have completely spent his load. Obando is shellacking him with his 1-2, unopposed. Lead rights as well from Obando, just chopping down from outside and clanging the left ear of Powell. Counter overhand rights by Powell are scoring but he's getting the worst of exchanges as Obando keeps whipping both arms down on him and preserving just enough distance to give them a towel-snap effect.

    10-9 Obando

    58-56 Powell
