King's Promotions: Mykal Tayquon Fox vs. John Arellano & Kalvin Henderson vs. Genc Pllana RBR

Round 1

Henderson is jabbing into the chest and parrying away Pllana's jabs and flurries when the latter plants his feet and fires while leaning backwards. Pllana's defensive posture is very strange, almost daring the opponent to clock him during an exchange. Thus far Henderson is content to just counter him with the jab, but Pllana is wide open for literally any punch in the book. Pllana with some occasional wide hooking combos, but always retracting his gloves to a low holstered position at his thighs. Henderson slipping & blocking fairly easily, and planting the jab on the chest & chin.

Round 2

Henderson is advancing cautiously on Pllana, whose movements are "herky-jerky" as the commentators eloquently put it. Pllana is yanking his upper body out in reverse and then boomeranging in with jabs, chopping rights, and wide roundhouses with both hands - all while keeping his legs fixed in cement and just wobbling above the waist to & fro. Henderson is ducking and forming up a tight guard, most of Pllana's shots deflecting off his arms, then countering with jabs and looping rights on the chin that rock Pllana's head around but do not deter him.

Commentators gave the second to Pllana.

 

Round 3

Henderson is pushing out a jab into the belt line, but Pllana is drifting away from it, moving clockwise, and then jogging in sideways unhurriedly with both arms down before levering up some light jabs and then swinging widely into Henderson's flanks with both hands. Exchanges on the inside, Pllana landing awkward raking shots while Henderson unsuccessfully tried prodding him away with the jab, and finds himself too smothered to get off the right cross. Pllana managing to keep himself just out of range of Henderson's jab on the outside, hands down but watching the jab reach its full extension an inch out from his chin.

Round 4

Henderson is waiting on Pllana, jabbing with him, trying to time him but finding that Pllana is too unconventional & unpredictable with his crazy in & out angles offensively. Pllana is waving his hands even when not punching, wouldn't quite call them "feints" in any traditional sense, but they are effective tools of misdirection as they seem to cow Henderson into hanging back in a defensive crouch. Pllana is dropping in jabs after drawing the pail up from the well by his lead thigh, and lathering up combos that resemble nothing more than a cat batting around a ball of yarn. Henderson shelling up but still getting clouted above the ears.

Round 5

Henderson comes out aggressively with a double jab but Pllana is soon dancing away, chin pointing straight up in the air, flapping his arms out in bursts of 4-5 wide slaps up at the head from his own hip at mid-range, or just coiling up his left arm like a tentacle and whipping out a wet noodle jab. Henderson is coming forward, but unable to close the distance as Pllana's movement is just too wonky. Henderson does clip Pllana with a flush counter left hook, catching him backing up off balance, only for Pllana to rush in and rain soft looping shots all over Henderson. Pllana is luring Henderson around the ring and nudging him in the jaw with his jab.

His style isn't anything like how Brown fought.

 

Round 6

Henderson is charging in with a single or double jab on the body or a 1-2 up top, but...then fizzling as Pllana sidesteps and pokes at him with light jabs from askew. Pllana is now carrying his fists nearly by his knees, but hauling them up in time for quick left-right slaps on either cheek as Henderson is driving forward, circumventing his gloves as they remain pinned in front of his nose & mouth predictably.

Round 7

Henderson is able to lay several consecutive jabs on the chin of Pllana, giving them a little added emphasis and thrusting his lead foot out further, growing in desperation and seeing it pay dividends as he's finally able to reach chin of Pllana despite his pull-away moves. Pllana is trapped in front of the ropes a few times, with Henderson able to get off a few straight combos off the jab. Pllana is flurrying with body hooks to get clear of the ropes, but cannot get Henderson's respect or back him off. Wild overhand by Pllana, folding himself over so that he nearly brushes his gloves against his toes with the miss.

Commentators think Hot Sauce needs a KO to win (or at least multiple knockdowns), saying he's "way down" on their cards.

 

Round 8

Henderson is jabbing the body, slowing Pllana down a bit, allowing Henderson to land a stiffer jab on the chin. Pllana is circling to his right, lazily, shoulders drooping and knuckles practically dangling at his ankles, occasionally flicking up a jab as he trots around Henderson. Pllana with very light keep-away double jabs as he pivots off the ropes. Henderson stalking, and tries posting up in front of Pllana to force an exchange but they both end up missing or getting deflected with several punches.
