Arellano is running in and getting pasted with left hands. One flush on the brow seems to hurt Arellano for a moment, but he shakes it off rather quickly. Arellano is jabbing up at thin air. Fox is countering down at him with the southpaw 1-2, and connects again with a long straight left on the body and quick chopping right hook on the jaw, and down goes Arellano. He is up quickly, flash knockdown. Fox spends the rest of the round playing the 'hit and don't get hit' game to a tee, not getting his blood up and growing sloppy just because he scored a KD. Good instincts; Arellano wasn't buzzed enough to move in for the kill.

Round 6

Arellano is eating right jabs up top and straight lefts on the body. Nothing he can really do about it, whether he's moving forward or not, punching or not, raising up a guard or not. Arellano's glove tape comes loose and the ref calls time out to fix it. Time in. Fox is surgical with the left hands, controlling distance, barely ever taking a punch himself due to Arellano's hapless stylistic puzzlement and disadvantages in hand & foot speed and tale-of-tape. Arellano resorting to desperate leaping right hands at the face, but Fox is able to bow to his side and slip them, and keeps feeding Arellano counters.

Round 7

Arellano is getting his left jab stuck into Fox's ribs and then letting it stay trapped under Fox's right arm when it comes down over it, taking advantage of their being thus shackled together and plowing the right hand into Fox's belly. Fox claps down on him with some lefts and lifts his right arm to free Arellano's glove, backing him off. Fox resumes picking him apart with jabs and straight lefts on the outside. Arellano is leading, but only throwing one punch for every half a dozen steps taken inside, only to miss and eat a left hand in the bargain. Fox double-taps with a left on the chest and then one bang on the nose, steadying himself with a bracing right hook in between on the side of the head.

Round 8

Fox is keeping Arellano sitting on the very end of his jab, circling without much haste around the middle of the ring, hardly breaking a sweat. Arellano is forcing his way in, but only getting halfway there. Big uppercuts swiping at the chest by Arellano, paying the price by eating jabs, but not even getting anything for his investment as Fox has plenty of room to back out and make him miss while landing the jab and even dropping in lefts behind it.

UD for Mykal "@The Professor" Fox

 

...like I said earlier, Mykal is a vastly superior boxer to his brother Alantez (who's about get absolutely murked by Liam Williams in a couple of weeks), but unfortunately also way more of a feather-fist. (and even Alantez is at best an only average puncher).

Not sure you can be that light a hitter and grab a belt at either 140 or 147.
