You cannot get into a pure swarming type shootout with a PRIME George Foreman and expect to win. That goes for Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Mike Tyson, and any other Heavyweight who even resembles a swarmer type fighter. If you try close swarming, George will bully you back and unload on you, assuming you get past his bombs and uppercuts on the way in. If you prefer mid range swarming, he will blast you where you stand.

If you want to slug with him, you will lose. That goes for Luis Firpo, Max Baer, Sonny Liston, and many others.

George Foreman over Mike Tyson by KO, TKO, or DQ.

Tyson s only chance is catching him in the first few minutes, hurting him and don't let him off the hook.

    Well written.

Prime Foreman also beats prime Mike imo, for the above reasons. Foreman was great at maneuvering opponents into his punches, bullying, spinning, pushing. Mike would be put in the range of both right and left uppercuts again and again. Two rounds at the very most.

That's not taking anything away from Mike, very much a top 10 ATG.

Quasi swarmer? He fought on the front foot. He would come in with his cross arm guard and then spring on his opponent. That's good against an Ali or Holmes but suicidal against Big George.

I’m sure you’re all eagerly awaiting my response to this. I pick Foreman. Tyson was that bad on the night he fought Douglas. Any other version before prison beats Foreman.

What is even the point of this thread ? There's no debate to be had here you're picking the worst version of Tyson before his prison stint against a prime Foreman.

I know you like making these mythical Heavyweight match ups which is fine but do better next time please because there's no discussion to be had here it's a no brainer.

Was it not the fights where they both tasted the sting of their first professional defeats and stripped of their reputations of invulnerability?

    Foreman easily.

Kinshasa George v the Tyson who beat Michael Spinks would be a far more mouth watering clash.

Yes,but George was still at his best coming into the fight, whereas Mike was totally flat.

I see similar excuses/explanations for the losses. Tyson was distracted by Japanese harlots. Foreman hated it in Africa.
