Overdosed on stupid pills tonight, but hard as nails. Considering how unimpressive he was in the area of self-defense, you have to be impressed with how he took all that punishment. While the stoppage was a foregone conclusion partway into the 4th, the KO-by-5 on his record belies a very resilient and gutsy fighter, that should be born in mind. Another case where the results alone don't paint the most complete picture. :good
Also added to it is that it didn't even look like he wanted to be there. Imagine if he had been trying.
He is as tough as an punching bag. As a boxer he looked like he was driving a taxi in NYC and someone decided to put him on the ring against Vic.
From the opening bell? I don't buy that. Vic only landed a handful of lefts in the first two rounds compared to later in the fight, and Dimitri seemed to get more into it the last couple of rounds after taking some of Vic's biggest bombs...clearly that flutter of effort was too little, too late.
His mom better be really sick or something. As sick as that sounds; with the complete non-effort he just gave it better be something major.
Looked like he must have been inspired by Clinton Woods' "performance" against Antonio Tarver earlier this year.
Oh, and while we're throwing credit around, the Showtime guys are absolutely right that Darch looks like a much improved fighter. I don't think a single punch thrown strayed from the laser sight. Cool that the Nonito affair didn't ruin him mentally. :good
I thought he still looked like a shmuck asking to have his ass beat for having such a ridiculous style. But when you have a mobile punching bag in front of you, anyone can look good.
Oh, he's still very flawed, but those punches at least have come a long way from the attention-***** telegraphs of the not-too-distant past. :yep
He still threw one I saw that was practically a mirror of what he threw that got him KTFO'd by Nonito, but Dima didn't pull the trigger on him.
Not much love for Vic here. He just crushed him in there and lets be real Kirilov has always been just average, and certainly didnt look great in his last couple of fights. I think Vic had the most to do with why he looked so bad. Solid win for Vic but I dont see him beating to many other big names at super fly. I think he should rematch Donaire or finally face Arce.
I was unexpectedly sitting in the entrance pathway for the fighters tonight. Vic had fire and determination in his eyes. Dimitri did not. As Dimitri left the ring for his dressing room, head down, a few of us clapped for him. He stopped, turned around, and thanked us. It was a poignant moment.
