Kirk Johnson: an underrated HW that should've won a belt

    He was a little underrated but there are no excuses for going with 10 Kg overweight in an eliminator fight. That just either lazy or stupid and if it is laziness it is also some kind of cheating the audience.

    He had some talent but his performance against Vitali was disgraceful. Nothing wrong with losing a fight, but at least put in an honest effort to prepare for the fight. He was horribly out-of-shape. As Larry Merchant said, he was a whale who was harpooned.

    Also, I wouldn't praise his Ruiz performance much either. Despite Ruiz's shameless acting job (he actually grabbed his ***** after being hit on the hip/thigh area), he did do more damage to Johnson than vice versa. At the end of the 9th, he was badly hurt from a short counter right hand by Ruiz. In fact, he could have easily suffered two knockdowns, but Cortez didn't rule them KDs

    We then were treated to the sight of Ruiz putting his glove and motioning like he thought he was a bad ass, after one of the most shameless displays of acting in a prizefight.
