Interesting that he would mention it in an interview. Kirk needs to learn how to market himself a bit better if you ask me.
Kirk Johnson wasted a glorious oppurtunity when he fought Viltali Klitschko after Lennox Lewis retired. The way he let himself go, allowing his weight to skyrocket and getting blown out by Vitali in a couple of rounds was disgusting and disgraceful. I'm hoping this guy takes the sport and his physical conditioning with a more serious approach. The talent is all there, but his head certainly wasn't at the time. I'm sure he'd love to get back in the ring with Vitali and maybe a shot against Wlad too. I don't want to see it, and I won't watch it if he comes to the fight in pathetic shape. Boxing doesn't need more poorly repeated performances, especially from a heavyweight that most people I know supported him in his career.
The Kirk Johnson I knew in Dallas & Ft Worth Tx would be a force on the HW scene today. The fight that seemed to be the killer for Kirk was when the blatently corrupt officiating by Joe Cortez coupled with John Ruiz oscar worthy acting performance robbed him of the WBC title. I'm glad to see Kirk back with Curtis if anyone can turn him around its Curtis. With Curtis & Paulie backing him Kirk has a good team Also glad to see Paulie Ayala getting into fight promotion. Paulie is one of the most genuinly good guys in boxing. I wish him every success with his venture
I like Kirk and don't mean to instigate with you here, but wasn't he loosing on the cards even before the DQ?
K.J. is a sorry mo-fo......... Johnson and Tua should fight......... Why not? Both are old and washed-up...... MR.BILL
From the interview, sounds as if he has severe anxiety. More than a normal amount of anxiety for a fighter, if you ask me.
so i guess that fight card in Atlanta co-starring JC Gomez and JP Mendy fell through. Now what for Kirk Johnson? :bbb
