Read that Kirkland passed away this week. Sad news indeed, rest easy Champ [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr76moW7Ojg[/ame]
such a shame he never had the dedication for it, RIP although i cant find anywhere that confirms this
Wow sad news indeed if true , great little fighter was kirk just lacked the dedication , his fights back in the day with Colin Jones were tidy affairs and if i remember correctly Col stopped him twice each in the 9th round ,a troubled warrior in this life apparently so rest in peace Kirkland the war is over mate .
Thanks mate was just passing through this morning so hadn't had the chance to check it out. Not sure what quality of life he's had since head injury falling from balcony 10yrs or so back.
May be premature this (and my apologies for starting thread if this is the case) but it's now being refuted on Boxrec. I hope that's the case
When the talk about best british fighters not to win a world title he is way up on the list. People of my age will remember him on sportsnight & midweek sport special showcasing his skills a nightmare opponent. He beat Duran & then went missing for the best part of a year!He was a walking advert for how NOT to prepare drinking a love of weed but wow could he fight! For the slightly younger fan he was a smaller version of Herol Graham at his peak totally avoided very hard to hit incredible reflexes with a spitefull jab. Hope he is still o.k as nothing confirmed i guess but as many of you know he basically had been destitute these last years really underated back in the day.
no your not.. i was banned for asking about The boxing truth radio show.... no doubt i will be gone again..lol
Sad News, let his achievements and mistakes..? be a lesson to you all. You only live once on this physical plain, if you have a ability within something that has the potential to separate you from poverty and progress your life..? Go for it and give it 100%. If you fall just short of your goals, at-least you can say you was honest to yourself and lived. Kirkland Laing must of been living in regret, and to be honest..? I don't have sympathy for him. I don't know why he throw his career down the drain..? I respect what he did, but he is a inspiration due to his mistakes, and because he ****ed up his own life. Don't **** up your life guys.
