    I remember on many occasions watching Kirkland on the box when i was a kid..we used to talk about his crazy/unique style at school,..i see him quite a lot now which aint pretty but always gives me a bit of a proud feeling knowing how good he was and what he achieved ...

    must be a million and 1 Kirkland stories

    I remember watching him beat Duran on the old BBC Grandstand on a SaturdY afternoon and I used to see him on the old midweek domestic shows on BBC1.
    I've found that people seem to think it's cool nowadays to say Kirkland's ability was a bit of a myth but it wasn't.
    The only person who stopped Kirkland being a superstar was Kirkland,and if he had half as much dedication as he had skill,he could've done far more than Honeyghan did,and he was no slouch either.
    When you talk about the biggest waste of talent from the UK in the modern era, it's "The Gifted One by a mile for me.

    yeah he was the highlight of them midweek shows...
    i seen a programme once on him and as you say he was way too laid back ,to say the least.they said it was known to go to pick him up for a fight and he is flat out stoned!!!!hahha then he wins ..

    i really hope that is true
