I agree with you but to his credit he put a nice combination to put Molina down. My guess is that Molina was going to recuperate and to take at least one of the last rounds to win comfortably.
I don't know about that, Anne "unleashed" James and he was a different fighter in the 9th-10th rounds, Molina was almost dropped prior to the knock down his legs were very shaky and Kirkland was going for broke.
What you say makes me hate the anticlimactic ending even more! **** I just wanted to see the real result even though I bet for Molina I respect Kirkland. Moilna was just a horrible match up for him and anyone not called Martinez or Canelo.
198 lbs a month before the fight, goddamn... well that would explain alot. Can't anyone see why Molina doesn't get enough wins, amd usually gets a draw or "robbery"? His eay of "winning" is completely unfavorable to a judge and fans for that matter. Imagine you're a judge, your ringside and you notice Molina initiating a clinch 80% of the time. I would have a hard time rewarding a fighter for that. Nonetheless, while it seemed like Kirkland didn't have the same snap on his punches, he still marked up Molina's face well.
Go and read about how Philly gym wars burnt fighters out. Then go watch tapes of Kirkland Sparring. Leaving in the gym may be the answer!
Kirkland is not a very good fighter by any means. Limited skill and not versatile. Lacks a chin and was mauled by a journeyman Ishida.
He wasn't slower.....he just didn't have the right set of tools for the job. Kirkland was in shape and had energy to go 12, but he couldn't handle someone who showed layers to their game. It wasn't pretty but it was very effective for the raw, basic style that James has always exhibited. No over training....just not the training in the right areas.
