So, it looks like Kirkland was put back in jail for a week after a probation officer paid an unexpected visit to the gym where Kirkland was supposed to be training for his upcoming bout on December 11th. Supposedly he was at the dentist being fitted for a custom-made mouthpiece.

Now they say he's going to return to the ring in early 2011.

Who's gonna be waiting for Kirkland in 2011? Who are the top dogs in the 154 class? Angulo looked weak against Cintron. Cotto wasn't THAT impressive against Foreman. Foreman isn't that impressive, period. Erislandy Lara looks decent. I haven't seen enough of Dzinziruk to assess what kind of impact he can make, and he hasn't been very active within the last 2 years. Margarito was destroyed by a JWW.

Is the 154 division still ripe for the taking of the hard hitting Kirkland? Or did he miss the boat? Who's the biggest threat to him at this state, assuming he's still the same Kirkland pre-imprisonment?

The biggest threat so far is himself! A few fights would be competitive but he could emerge on top. Williams could be in the mix too.

Btw Margarito got beaten by the best fighter in the world. Honestly I dont see any Jr WW able to beat him at 150.

I assume everyone agrees with me that Kirkland-Angulo could be a great fight. I think Kirkland would handle Foreman and a fight with Cotto at this point is a toss up but no he hasn't missed the boat, he has a lot of potential and will wreck havoc into the division and probably win a belt, but it'll be interested to see how he fares against good boxers, not brawlers

Kirkland-Angulo should be great indeed. Cotto against any of them is a bad match-up IMO. They're too strong and too hungry. Cotto is a good boxer also but the pressure they would put on him would be too intense. Angulo is a stronger version of Margarito and Kirkland would be on Cotto chest all night

I agree for the most part. I'm not sure if Angulo is a stronger version of Margarito, though. Assuming that Margarito wasn't loaded against Cintron, he destroyed Cintron whereas Angulo was schooled pretty badly.

Kirkland vs. Williams would also be awesome. All action!

True! But I believe Angulo was indeed weakened when he came in the ring against Cintron. Anyway they should do a double header: Kirkland - Williams and Margarito - Angulo. All action night!! And Cintron sitting on the judges table..that's where he likes to stay on fight night
