Kirkland has lost the basic skills and foundation of boxing. His timing is all off and he would look silly in there with Floyd. Plus, who would watch this on PPV?

 

How was Maidana able to do it? Kirkland is bigger, more wild and relentless. Kirkland would eat Floyd's punches and chase him down with unpredictable looping hooks that Floyd wouldn't be able to stay away from. Kirkland is chinny and not particularly skilled but his style is all wrong for Floyd, if Floyd couldn't knock him out (and I don't think he could) then Kirkland wins. For another example of how poorly Floyd does against unorthodox fighters look at the Augustus fight, or when old Cotto was having success on the ropes.

Maidana is a much better fighter than Kirkland, and he lost twice to Floyd. It's hard to say if he was able to trap Floyd or if Floyd just decided to fight off the ropes. Because he said the rematch would be much different and Maidana was not able to get him against the ropes in the rematch.

Augustus lost every round and was stopped. Sure he pushed Floyd pretty hard, but he's also more skilled than Kirkland and he lost decidedly. Did you really bring up Cotto? Old Cotto was less than a year older than Kirkland is now when Cotto fought Mayweather. He's also way more talented than Kirkland, and he lost at least 8 rounds against Floyd. People don't seem to learn on this forum. It's very similar to people claiming Pacquiao would beat Mayweather based on Mayweather's performances against other lefties, even though Mayweather won all of those fights decisively.
