Kirkland-Tapia got a little hard to watch...

Look at his punches when he's fresh vs. his punches as the fight went on. He was willing himself to move his hands but wasn't putting that savage "**** you" behind his punches. If you ever been in a fight and been gassed you know that feeling where you can keep fighting but you aren't explosive at all.

 

When Tapia was firing off shots and moving he looked great ..Why these guys chose to brawl like that is beyond me ..Even though these fights are crowd pleasing it goes against everything that the sweet science is about !

 

I don't know... Maybe we define gassed differently.

The guy was on the constant attack, and was looking to finish his obviously wounded, obviously weakened opponent away. He didn't look gassed as I know it.

I didnt see a war I saw Tapia go guns blazing for 2 minutes and then get Angulo'd

Probably should have stopped it sooner

That last punch was classless but Smoger should have done more to separate them

 

Tapia was ill prepared, his conditioning sucked. He needs an elite trainer.

 

Can't disagree. Don't really know what their gameplan was, other than "go in there and try and bang him out early, and if that doesn't work, try to bang him out late." Should have had a plan B for the eventual realization that warring with Kirkland is a bad idea. Or at least a better plan A.

His corner was a joke. Telling him to "get a second wind" when Tapia could barely open his eyes? They should not have let him out for that final round. He was barely coherent and was completely out of it mentally.

 

James Kirkland is becoming a Scary force in boxing . Sure he has a questionable chin and all . But DAMN hes a beast , the guy just doesnt believe in letting his opponents breath .

I dont know , i think im slowly becoming a fan .

Kirkland has a solid chin, soft face but always looks like he is out of gas after a few rounds.
