Angulo looks like he's fighting underwater compared to Kirkland. Plus he tends to telegraph his shots. He better be willing to take some punishment because the way he wades in he's gonna take some leather.
He has much better punch placement than Kirkland. He's more refined in how he punches than Kirkland, Kirkland can be a tad more over aggressive often throwing big bombs just to throw them. Angulo places his punches perfectly (or at least perfectly compared to Kirkland) and I could see him piling up points with his more accurate punches. Which is a problem because Angulo's chin isn't exactly very proven. He's been hurt before and has shown shaky chin tendencies.
you're right about angulo's superior body work. i think that could be key. kirkland has looked, to me, as though in his last three or four fights like he is getting more and more focused on headhunting along the ropes...this could multiply the problem. i cannot recall, offhand, if i have ever seen a fighter really attack kirkland's body...any insights?
Kirkland has always been a headhunter for as long as I've seen him. I saw him against some no hoper on Showbox (his last name was Lyle I believe) and he pretty much stuck to one thing--head hunting. To be fair to Kirkland, it's been effective and obviously if there's water in the welll you keep going to it. That said for his own sake he should develop versatility. Instead of switching things up he just got more and more frustrated and continued to head hunt. Instead of taking advantage of the fact that the kid could've been taken out through some body work, he just kept headhunting and the fight went 5 rounds more than it should've. He REALLY needs to develop a body game because when he faces someone who can move better than Julio and fight off the backfoot because otherwise he'll just be a big moving target with windmill punches.
Kirkland works the body all the time. I dont know what you guys are watching, He touched Juilos body all night, Angulo would be stationary all night and take those. wont even go past the 6th
....:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl And just in case you missed the point of the post, :rofl
Kirkland is just as easy to hit although he's developing (or working on) a decent shoulder roll. As per Angulo being slow, absolutely he is. Ridiculously slow. That said neither guy is very fast so it's kind of like saying "what's faster the tutle on land or the snail?" ya know what I mean.
kirland by mid-late stoppage. guy is a beast. i just dont think angulo will be able to handle the pressure james puts on.
Don't think Kirkland can take what he gives... Angulo has the cave man brow, he has nothing to lose. (He don't care about what he look's like after a fight) Always trouble when a fighter looks better after the fight than before... nahh but seriously, I think Angulo has the style to force the weakness out of Kirkland.
Thats nice that Angulo has that cave man brow and all..but he gets hit too much...You saw what Rivera's slow a$$ landing clean punches...Kirkland is faster than Rivera and would land almost at will IMO!:bbb
