Let's just pretend he didn't send Kirkland sailing thru the air in the first minute of the fight lol... He's a better fighter than James, and a better talent. He was just stupid.

So now all of a sudden Kirkland is one of ESB "greats" again? Oh the irony on the interweb! One day you are nothing the other day you are like a god or viceversa.

Kirkland still has alot to prove. Maybe, just maybe, Kirkland was on an off night when he fought Ishida as just maybe Angulo was on an off night when he fought Kirkland. I like to think Angulo just couldn't recover after he puched himself out. Kirkland is a slugger, which is good for show, but we still need to see some more now that he has his old trainer back.

As for the question, I say Mayorga.

No moron, in Texas a guy out on probation carrying a gun is a felony. Like I said either way aside from the armed robbery and his serving time for that, you have yet to respond to how he has been a danger to anyone else.

The fact is for some reason you have it out against Kirkland, and it is greatly effecting your ability to rationaly compose thoughts and make valid arguments. Yes boxing has helped Kirkland change his life, who knows what he would be doing if he didn't have that. As for the 2 convictions those are the only convictions he has ever had and again how that translates to him being human garbage, filth, and all the other **** you've said has yet to be established. Clearly you must be on your cycle to be saying the irrational **** that is coming from your mouth.

Stop the presses folks, respecting people who turn their lifes around is a no go. No one should ever recognize B-Hop, LaMotta, Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, George Foreman, Sonny Liston, and etc. Because they committed crimes but then started boxing as a way to leave those lifestyles behind. :rofl:rofl

Like I said earlier, it is becoming clearer and clearer to see why Kermit ditched you.

He got beat by Ishida, he wasn't beat up though and any objective person can see that. His punch resistance was gone and he went down on every landed blow, but again I see you want to ignore what he did to the arguably better Angulo he faced aftwards, once he got back in shape with Wolfe.

Prime Mayorga vs. Kirkland would be a great fight while it lasted and 50/50 imho, but with a slight slight edge to James.

The funny thing about you is you actually try to talk like you are an authority on what can hypothetically happen. We are all just guessing and everyone is entitled to their opinion fella. Get it together.

I don't believe anyone in this thread has said Kirkland is great.

As for Kirkland he has been pretty consistant as far as to the type of fighter that he is. I think the issue in the Ishida fight was weight related. That being said he did dominate Angulo the entire fight, minus 1 minute, even when Angulo started firing back Kirkland reestablished control and systematically broke him down.

Get your facts straight dumbass. It is a federal crime for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm, and also a state crime. Laws vary state to state, but the federal laws do not vary. You can be prosecuted by the state and the federal government.
From "TITLE 18--CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

    PART I--CRIMES

    CHAPTER 44--FIREARMS"
It is considered illegal in every state for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm. The offense level for this type of felony firearm crime also varies by state but is greater when the gun is loaded, kept or used unlawfully. In this case, a felony firearm offense is a crime punishable by additional imprisonment, fines, and other penalties depending on the nature of the original offense and the circumstances of the felony firearm charge.
How is he a danger??? Hmmmm... well he is a convicted felon. After a successful amateur career (boxing success changed his life? NOT) he was found guilty of ARMED ROBBERY. Upon being released from prison he resumed his boxing career while on probation. While finding success both professionally and financially he decided to go to a gun show and make an illegal purchase of a hand gun, and was then found to have it loaded while in his possession. To answer your question from earlier... the gun being loaded worsens the severity of the criminal offense.
If I have to explain to you how being convicted of two felonies (one of which being a violent crime) makes a person trash, a thug, and quite a few other unflattering adjectives then I am obviously speaking to a moron.
My cycle??? I am 38 yrs old and have never had a drink, cigarette, or drug of any kind in my life. So once again... you have been OWNED! Sorry that my hard work in the gym makes you so jealous, and your own reflection in the mirror makes you sad. HATER!
Bhop still acts like a classless thug, and con artist. LaMotta was a piece of ****. Was committing crimes after he retired. I never heard anything about Robinson or Louis being armed robbers. George Foreman... don;t recall him ever being a felon. Liston was involved in criminal activity throughout his career.
Since when is getting dropped 3 times in less then 3 minutes not considered getting beat up. LOL The Ishida fight was weight related? I have news for you... being heavier is actually beneficial to punch resistance. being that Kirkland fought MR 6 KO'S Ishida at 160 i would be inclined to think he probably was a little sturdier. the facts are a powder puff puncher dropped him hard 3 times, he has been visibly hurt A LOT, and Angulo hurt him pretty bad as well.
Mayorga bends Kirkland over at will. Mayorga destroyed Andrew Lewis twice. KO'd Forrest once, and beat him over 12 rounds. Gave Tito HELL early. Fought Oscar hard. Fought Mosely hard. Fought Cotto hard. Granted he lost to the elite guys he fought after Forrest. But, always made a good fight. There are know ko's losses on Mayorgas record from an Ishida type fighter. HILARIOUS.
You think prime Mayorga vs Kirkland is 50/50? Do you still believe in Santa, The Easter bbunny, and The Tooth Fairy as well.
    Stop it! LOL

They were all flash KD's :deal

The Mayorga who fought Forrest had a tremendous chin. Not only that, he had great power... but he didn't know how to throw a straight punch for the life of him, his punches were all looping shots. He was awkward, but for you to be hit with his power you needed to be in that range where his looping punches could hit you. So if you stayed on the inside and with your head in his chest through short punches, you'd be able to beat him. Sure he will tough you more, but his power he was known for, will not be as effective as he can't loop his shots if you are inside -- after round one, this is exactly what Trinidad did. Either be inside or all the way on the outside, right out of his range, with foot movement and the jab and it's cake. Kirkland obviously wouldn't do the later, but he could stay in his chest which would favor him...

...but chances are he will get hit by the looping punches too as he tends to rush in to the inside blindly. It's a tendency which got him KO'd. Mayorga has more speed (way more) and pop then Angulo, but his punch selection was actually worst, although Mayorga had a better jab.. lol although he really didn't use it.

Good points, but it's safe to say that Kirkland is no Trinidad. lacks the technique, and lacks the boxing IQ to execute that game plan.

You're right. Anyone who can go almost three minutes with Ishida is a beast, and would destroy Mayorga, and anyone else for that matter. And... committing multiple felonies despite the fact that you have a successful boxing career makes you a wonderful human being.
The gun purchase "April 19, 2009 - Kirkland, who was on probation, was arrested during a traffic stop in his hometown of Austin, Texas and charged with a 3rd degree felony 'unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon'." Hence the distinction I made between state and federal law. Federal law also mandates that the degree of the felony can be elevated if the firearm is loaded.
The fact that you seem so willing to overlook that this man had the world at his feet yet continued to engage in criminal behavior clearly illustrates your mindset. The ease with which you dismiss the severity of armed robbery by calling it a "mistake" is alarming to me. The this convicted armed robber goes and illegally purchases a firearm, and is found with the firearm loaded???? Are you honestly saying that you do not find that to be a problem? He belongs in JAIL. Period the end.
As for Aranda... no he is nothing extraordinary, but he was undefeated at the time he fought Mayorga, and was a former Olympian. Also, Mayorga was making his pro debut, and Mayorga weighed 140 to Aranda's 156. Mayorga made his pro debut in a 10 rounder with Aranda, and went 6 rounds. Kirkland was smashed 3 times in less then a round. Bad comparison.
Mayorga was kicking ass against Andrew lewis in the first fight before the butt. Techincally a ND so I'll give you that. I never said he KO'd Forrest twice dumbass. KO'D once, and 12 round decision in the rematch.
I hold fast to my opinion that Mayorga fought everyone hard. May not have been winning, but he fought them hard, and he shook up at least once almost all of the elite fighters he fought.
Hey but what do I know. Guys who get routinely hurt by single shots, and KO'd by fighters known to not be able to crack and egg are the real killers of the boxing world. Also, criminals convicted of multiple felonies, violent crimes, and gun crimes are actually fine and upstanding people. :huh

Again, you are the one making the argument that the Kirkland who fought Ishida is representative of Kirkland's whole body of work, not me. If you believe that the Ishida fight is James at his best, so be it. I don't and the Kirkland I saw fight Vera, Angulo, and Julio is a Kirkland who I think can give Mayorga fits at 154.

James Kirkland was arrested twice and only once in relation to doing something to someone else. You can make a distinction how you would like, you clearly don't know **** about gun laws in how you falsely tried to claim he committed a federal crime, when he did not. Then you claimed it was illegal for felons to have guns period, you are wrong.

Kirkland still has the world at his feet and this time from what I've heard he is doing things the right way and walking the straight and narrow and that is great and it is a testament to the sport of boxing that he is able to use it as a way to improve his means. You seem to have a problem with that, why? I don't know, but you really are going to have to look inside yourself for that.

Why does Kirkland belong in jail again though? He served the time he was sentenced in order to qualify for probation, so what is your real problem? You didn't like the way Kirkland beat down one of your boys?

You have every excuse in the world for Mayorga getting TKOd by a nobody but you don't want to except that there were reasons that Kirkland looked so bad against Ishida but not that bad against anyone else he fought. Total hypocrisy at its finest.

You are right you didn't say Mayorga KO'd Forrest twice, I was wrong.

Mayorga can fight hard all he wants, I never said he didn't bring it, but as far as I'm concerned he wouldn't steam roll over Kirkland and Kirkland would be in the fight until it ended. Like I said I see it 50/50 as of now with a slight edge towards Kirkland being that he is the bigger man with greater power and it isn't like Mayorga is a defensive master himself.

Yes what do you know, from you analysis of Kirkland I would say not that much to say he doesn't have a shot against Mayorga.

And again the only crimes Kirkland commited are Armed Robbery and a rule infraction of carrying a weapon while on probation. Only one of which actually involved hurting another person.

I guess he shouldn't even be allowed to live in your standard right?

Beat down my boy? Who is my boy? I am not a fan of anyone Kirkland beat. Excuse for Mayorga? Facts are he was making his pro debut at 140 fighting and opponent who weighed 156. If you don't think being heavier then your opponent is of any advantage then why are there weight classes? Oh yeah... because it is an advantage.
It is federal law that a convicted felon can not carry a firearm. "Congress passed the first blanket prohibition on felons carrying guns in the Gun Control Act of 1968, which made it illegal for felons to possess a gun any under circumstances. The Firearm Owners' Protection Act, passed in 1986, reinforced the ban on felons carrying guns, and also banned people who have been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment from possessing guns." Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooo did that sink into your head yet?
How many times has Kirkland been knocked stiff legged by the "opponents" he was carefully matched with? Then in his comeback they fly in a powder puff puncher from Japan to sacrifice on HBO. Surprise... Japanese powder puff smashes Kirkland to the canvas three times in under 3 minutes. :tired Angulo throws an arm punch and drops Kirkland like a sack of potatos.:bbb
A felony conviction, jail, probation, financial, and professional success were not enough to get this piece of **** thug to wise up and put his criminal nature behind him. What did he do in reponse to his 2nd chance at life, and boxing? Went and made an illegal straw purchase of a fire arm, loaded it, and drove around with it in his car. DUMB ASS criminal piece of ****.
I love how you dismiss his criminal behavior with this statment "the only crimes Kirkland commited are Armed Robbery and a rule infraction of carrying a weapon while on probation." He only committed armed robbery??? Is that it? Wow my mistake. They should have made him stand in the corner for such a minor mistake. Then you dismiss the fact that a violent felon went out and illegally purchased a gun while on probation because he hadn't yet used it in a crime. :?

The way you are butt hurt over Kirkland something must have happened. You sound almost as bitter about him as you do Kermit. :rofl

Yes excuses for Mayorga, the same excuses that you go on to make in this post.

No it is not federal law that a convicted felon can not carry a gun, it is federal law that a convicted felon can not purchase a firearm through a FFL dealers. All the acts you bring up are in reference to the FFL process, try reading the actual laws and having some sense of Constitutional division of powers between the Federal government and the States.

Again you take the Ishida fight as if that is the way Kirkland always reacts and it simply isn't, if you want to live in your dream world where you believe that, so be it, anyone with eyes who has watched him fight can see that it simply isn't the case, this was confirmed in the Angulo fight. I guess that doesn't exist though. :rofl

Oh so are you mad that he ****ed up in his life or that he ****ed up more than once and was still able to get his life back on track? :rofl Like I said the bitterness you have towards Kirkland, a man you supposedly don't know and have never had contact with, reeks in your posts about him. Fact is he only committed one crime where he armed a fellow human being, yeah he ****ed up carrying a gun while on probation, but hey he did his time again and came out again and got his career back on track as well as his life. That is something to applaud.

Having a gun fella, doesn't mean you are going to committ a crime either. Most gun owners have them for protection in case you didn't know. I don't know why he had one, but he had it and was busted, so why continue to cry over it.

Yeah because I've excused his actions and said he should have never been punished for breaking any of the laws he did right? :rofl

No ability to read and comprehend the english language.
