Kirkland has come from the deck in his last fight against Angulo 30s from the first bell to show that he has heart and resilience to overcome setbacks such as in his first pro loss, a 1st round TKO. Then he finished Angulo who basically punched himself out in those first 3 min but that doesn't tell anything more than an extra recovery power and willpower add to his arsenal... There is no info to compare or to understand how Kirkland would move or face or stand b4 Martinez. We could have a huge upset there or simply an expected result, nobody can tell... In my opinion, Kirkland is working very hard to get to that peak where he can throw and hit hard in a very hard paced fight so it wouldn't be a regular fight night job for "sexy" Sergio either.

Speed kills. I see a first or second round KO for Sergio. In the manner of the Williams one.

IF Kirkland got out of the first few rounds, we COULD have a decent fight (no Steward).

I know for a fact, Sergio's unusual, but very effective, power straight left, right hook combo would give Kirkland hell all night, but Kirkland is starting to show that awesome stamina (and a pinch of luck) can help him overcome the glass chin problem.

I think Sergio wins at this point, but would be interested in seeing this match up, especially if Kirkland goes on to win his next couple fights big.

I agree with this.. but I still think Kirkland would lose.... i haven't seen enough proof that he could be someone as slick and athletic as Sergio.. but regardless Kirkland is a BEAST

Martinez early KO. Kirkland's jaw is just too weak.

Kirkland is not seasoned enough to compete with Sexy. Sergio has too much power and speed and he is going to lure Kirkland and punish him with hard left hands while coming in. Kirkland should first try to win against Lara for example and get rounds with those mobile smart opponents. Until now his two best wins are against somehow stationary fighters in Julio and Angulo. That said Molina is a very good though fight for him. I can see Molina outsmart him but if he can take this fight he will emerge a better fighter.

Kirkland would lose in approximately 7 seconds, his jaw would not be able to handle the first jab.

I disagree. I think he may be out of it in the first few rounds but once he gets his gameplan set and starts landing he cna do alotta damage and win.

Kirkland jaw is not so bad as people make it to be. Conditioning and being drained are very important factors. When he is properly conditioned and doesn't have to shed 30 pounds for 2 weeks he has an average to good jaw. In the Julio fight he took some big shots while Julio was stile somehow a factor. I know that Julio was a puncher only at WW but still I don't think that Kirkland is so chinny. The Angulo fight somehow proves my theory. Don't buy the chin-checkers crap

Sergio Martinez would land flush on Kirkland far too often for this to really ever be competitive, in my opinion. Kirkland has little consideration for defence when he's coming forward, which he is always doing. I would not be surprised if the fight ended in the very first round with Martinez adding yet another name to his ever-growing list of impressive knockouts.

Margarito provided the blueprint on how to beat Sexy Serg.

Rough him up inside with hooks and uppercuts. Sergio is completely inneffective at close quarters, from where he is unable to shoot the long left.

Kirkland has a good inside game with hooks and uppercuts. That's where he must fight because, at range, Sergio will KO him brutally and quickly.
