Kirkland's Chin.

Nope, plenty of fighters could of took those shots. Canelo has average power.

Kirkland's defense is worse than Margarito's. His chin is ok. He bobs here and there, but he eats a lot of punches with his face. You can't fight at the top level with that kind of Swiss cheese defense.

 

But Margarito would of been there all night. Kirkland was KO'ed.

 

Hatton actually has his guard up and was on the move most of the time preventing Canelo to set and throw clean bombs on the chin. Kirkland was sat on the ropes with his hands by his side chin in the air, all Canelo had to do was load up as much as possible and connect. It was like Canelo was doing rounds on the heavy bag in there.

 

Was lara ever stood there on the ropes with his hands down to even take a clean shot in the whole fight? He was continuously on the move not letting Canelo set and throw hard shots. Angulo managed to corner lara by cutting the ring of well and land some hard shots, something flat footed Canelo isn't the best at doing.

 

That would be because Matthew Hatton has a great chin. He's limited skill wise but he's very durable.

Canelo has good power. Not great but not average either.

 

Not a great chin but he achieved a lot for a fighter with a glassy chin, through pure will and great conditioning.

 

1. He loses a lot of weight very fast. That probably doesn't help.
2. He cuts about 20lb of water weight. That definitely doesn't help.
3. He has no defense.
4. He throws a lot of punches so there are a lot of opportunities to counter him while he's squared up and not expecting it.
5. Have you seen the sparring they do? That definitely doesn't help.
6. Medicine ***** to the back of the head are probably detrimental.

So yeah. The fact that he can take any punches at all is a miracle.

 

Kirkland has heart, tried his best and gave us an entertaing fight.

Kirkland's chin is slightly above average. Anne Wolfe's training techniques are the reasons Kirkland's already getting that nasal/slur in his voice. He's not punch drunk yet...but he will be.
