Jose Carlos Ramirez vs. Gabriel Bracero
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Dominik Britsch, you added it when Zurdo was the opponent.

Hosea Burton vs. Frank Buglioni will tear the league in half, please can I add that one.:D

I've done threads on both of them, I'll provide the footage.

    And...

Hey gang, hope everyone had a good thanksgiving.... had a few thoughts about the fight lol... nothing major, but just wanted to vent slightly.

I like Ward a lot, I personally think that at his minimum weight (168) he is unbeatable by anyone who is not themselves an all time great at that weight. I consider him a very rare master of the ring. I absolutely have him on par with Mayweather and Hopkins in terms of his ring IQ. I love what he does.

That being said.... (and let me say that I definitely have to rescore the fight, maybe I got caught up in the moments and so I definitely think I should rescore it) but, I do have a hard time seeing how Ward -won- that fight. If someone wants to argue for a draw, fine... I wouldn't argue too hard on it. I could compromise on that. But having Ward winning that fight? Taking Kovalevs titles and dethroning him?

So, Ward did something that has almost never been done in the entire history of the sport?

    As the challenger, he
    - Threw less punches (over a hundred less I believe)
    - LANDED less punches
    - Was knocked down
    - Was the one on the backfoot

and youre going to tell me that Kovalev, as the reigning champ, threw more, landed more, was the aggressor throughout the fight, scored the only knockdown, and.... lost his titles? really? I just wonder what other fight in boxing history that champion was dethroned, without corruption, while having landed more punches, throwing over a hundred more, scoring a knockdown and being the one pressing the fight the entire night. I mean, I know this was a historical fight, but didn't think it was THAT historical.

Now, I realize fights are scored round by round and not by comparing stats, I know punchstats can be deceiving, I know punchstats also aren't infallible (meaning I know they are sometimes flat out wrong) but damn... come on. It was a razor close fight by most peoples estimation, and yet Ward gets every single benefit of the doubt to give him the edge despite within the ring it was Kova that actually did the edging (if you go by the knockdown and punchstats)

I don't know, it just doesn't sit well with me. I mean, find a way to make that a draw, fine... set up the rematch, fine. But youre gonna give Kova his first loss and dethrone him like that? ehhh.... doesn't sit right with me.

By all means, maybe I change my tune when I rewatch it, but this is my initial opinion it. I know many will disagree. My only question is can you tell me any other time in history this has legitimately happened, and if not, you really think what Ward did was that historical? Anyways, the fight overall went pretty much how I thought it would (I told my friend I think Kova wins a close decision after scoring a single knockdown, but if Ward wins a controversial decision it wouldn't surprise me), and I think that Ward probably wins the rematch without controversy at all. But this fight? I just don't know.
