damnit.... rumor is Judah only rehydrated to 143. I hope that doesnt hurt him too much for this fight, you would think hed want to be a lil heavier to help absorb some of that strength and pressure of matt.... but maybe hes just thinking that having those extra lbs off him will help him be more elusive and slick in there.
DAAAMN! I knew we got Johnson/Green for free in Denmark, but just found out that we get Lopez/Marquez for free too. If that doesnt make your day, what does!!?
......Green....goddamnit. Johnson what a gentleman. With a Abraham win we'll see Abraham/Johnson in the semi's. LET IT HAPPEN!
Wow what a fight between Lopez and Marquez. 1-4 was technical boxing and then came the wars. Round 7 was definitely a Round of the Year candidate. Good night for boxing! Congratulations to Lopez!
Nice wins by Johnson and Lopez (what a fight!), Guerro also won... now Matthysse has to KO Judah and this is a very good night :happy
Good night Tackle.... and yes tonight was a decent night of boxing. Congrats to Johnson. I should have kept my faith in him and kept my pick on him, I should have known he wouldnt let Green beat him, I just thought the weight loss might have spoken for itself, but he did it. Couldnt be happier for the guy. I wont get into the Lopez fight much, kinda bummed about that one but I'm glad that even at this stage.... an old, worn and semi inactive Marquez could give the young touted prospect some scary rounds. I dont think Marquez has anything to be ashamed of. Judah vs Lucas.... kinda a fight I felt both guys were hesitent to do much for most of the fight. Ill try to get these updates done tomorrow... :goodHopefully some pics as well.
Ok the month started out good. Green/Johnson was actually not bad imo. Johnson pressured Green very well and kept landing his jab, and occationally a good power punch. I dont know, but Green just didn't look that very interested in being there. I know there's some people saying the KO was a product of a punch to the back of the head, but it looked to me that Green ducked very low and got hit on the side of his head, messing up his equilibrium. Johnson is a class act, let's see if he can shock the world by upsetting Abraham or Ward in the semis. Marquez/Lopez was a sweet fight for the fans. I understand the bitterness of the Marquez fans, as it's always sad to watch an old warrior going down. But lets be fair now. Marquez is a great technician and a great warrior, and always goes into the ring with everything he's got. He gave Lopez some good opposition and won rounds 3,4 and 5 andhad Lopez BADLY hurt in round 4. Round 7 imo was a good candidate as round of the year. All action. Marquez has had a great career with many battles, nothing to be ashamed of. I dont see this fight to have been a fight between 2 rivals, but instead of a "passing the torch" fight. Props to Lopez now let's see him in the ring against Caballerro, John or Gamboa! Congratulations to Judah, he'll fight for Alexanders vacant IBF title next. I dont see him making too much noise in the top 5 of the 140 division. Next up: Pacquiao/Margarito!
What the **** happened to Romero. That has to be one of the biggest upsets of the year. Losing to a guy with a 33-20-4 record? Really? Props to Gilberto, thats one for the underdog.
Suprising as hell, and actually Gilberto gave Romero his very first loss in his career way back in 1998. So, I assume that Romero gave Gilberto a shot just to try and get revenge, but it didn't work out too well.
Hey, if that's the case, good on Romero. But as they say in boxing, The guy who wins the first fight, usually wins the second one.
Good post Tackle. I think ive been a bit bitter at the marquez/lopez fight but I should just be happy that Marquez gave as good a fight as he did. Impressive after all hes been through in the ring. Cant believe the Pac fight is next week.
